Description
English: This is a plaque on the Hannah Playhouse commemorating Downstage Theatre. It reads: "This is the original site of Downstage Theatre. The theatre was established in 1964 in the Walkabout Coffee Bar, then moved to the Star Boating Club. In 1973 the theatre moved into the Hannah Playhouse which was purpose-built with the the assistance of gifts from Sheila Winn OBE and the people of Wellington. Until its closure in 2013 Downstage was a major contributor to professional theatre in New Zealand."
