Summary[edit]

A 29-second sample of a rare recording of "You Are My Sunshine" (1939) cover by the Dead Man Street Orchestra (a.k.a. Tuba Skinny). No other recordings of the Dead Man Street Orchestra are easily available. The Dead Man Street Orchestra was the earliest incarnation of Tuba Skinny with the same performers albeit playing on different instruments and with a very different style. This song is significant as it represents one of the earliest examples of the musical style and inchoate talent of a band that would later be described by Offbeat magazine and The Syncopated Times as the most notable traditional jazz band in United States.
