| Description |
English: Came across a large Axis Deer herd above Kihei. We were flying back to the hangar after field work in Kahikinui.
In September 1959, DLNR introduced five axis deer to this area of Maui, to be managed for game hunting. In July 1960, four additional deer were released. It's estimated there are now about 40,000 deer across the island of Maui, with further growth expected. |
