The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office (WCSO0 is the primary law enforcement and investigation agency for Whatcom County, Washington, in the United States. It is among the largest and oldest law enforcement organizations in Washington.[6] The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office is headquartered in the county's largest city, Bellingham, Washington, but has plans to open a new jail in Ferndale, Washington.[7]

The main functions for the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office is to provide law enforcement services, operate the county's correctional facilities, and work cooperatively with municipal, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies.[8]

The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office was founded in 1854 with the first ever Whatcom County Sheriff being Ellis "Yankee" Barnes[9]
