Shahab Dalili (Persian: شهاب دلیلی, born 1969) is an American-Iranian, former captain of IRISL Group.[1] He was arrested by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on 2016 and sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of "espionage" and "collaboration with the United States government".[2][3][4]

Arrests[edit]

Dalili is a former captain of IRISL Group and a resident of United States. He went to Tehran for his father's funeral in 2016,[5][6] but was arrested and imprisoned by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) when he returned to United States and before reaching the airport and moved to the Evin Prison.[7][8][9] He has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of "espionage" and "collaboration with the United States government". He went on strike to protest that he was not included in the agreement between Iran and the United States for the exchange of prisoners.[10][11][12]

Reactions[edit]

Dalili's son, in response to the fact that his father's name is not mentioned in the recent deal announced between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran for the release of a number of prisoners,[13][14][15][16] has sat in front of the White House and has also gone on a hunger strike.[17][18][19]
