Panta Damnjanović (Serbian Cyrillic: Панта Дамњановић; c. 1780-1804) was a hero of the Battle of Čokešina which took place on Lazarus Saturday during the First Serbian Uprising;[1].

Panta Damnjanović was among the first revolutionaries who participated in a battle that took place in the vicinity of the Čokešina Monastery (near Lesnice) on Lazarus Saturday, 28 April 1804Julian Calendar[2][3]in today's Western Serbia where 303 Serbian rebels faced a large Ottoman army in the Serbian Uprising. Boj na Čokešinu (The Battle of Čokešina) led at the same time as the siege of the town of Šabac, was called "Serbian Thermopylae" by German historian Leopold von Ranke in his seminal work on Serbian history. This clash is remembered by its losses, which were the hardest losses for Revolutionary Serbia because so many young men died, including Damnjanović and other revolutionaries such as his good friend Damnjan Kotešanin, and Panta's uncles Damnjan Nedić and Gligorije Nedić.[4]perished there with all the rest of the brave young fighters. From just slightly over three hundred fighters, but only three of them survived.[5][6]
