Moruf Oseni is a Nigerian business executive currently serving as the Managing Director/CEO of Wema Bank Plc.
Education[edit]
Oseni had his secondary education at King's College, Lagos. He then furthered his studies at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), where he earned a B.Sc. in computer engineering.[1]
He later earned a Master's in Finance (MIF) from the London Business School and then pursued an MBA at the Institut European d'Administration des Affaires (INSEAD) in France.[2]
Career[edit]
Oseni started his banking career as a trainee at First Bank Nigeria, where he subsequently held leadership positions. He later joined Renaissance Capital as a vice president. He was also an associate at Salomon Brothers/Citigroup Global Markets in London. Oseni left Renaissance Capital and founded MG Ineso Limited, a principal investment and financial advisory firm, where he held the position of MD/CEO.[3][4]
In 2012 Oseni was hired by Wema Bank Plc as an executive director, during which he supervised the launch of ALAT by Wema.[5] - In 2018, he became the deputy managing director. On April 1, 2023, Oseni became the CEO and managing director of the bank. He took over the position from Ademola Adebise.[6][7][8]
Awards[edit]
In September 2023, Moruf Oseni was awarded the Top 25 CEO Award at the BusinessDay Top 25 CEO Awards.[9][10]
