John Phillip Gearhart (born May 24, 1949) is the Robert D. Jeffs professor of pediatric urology at the Brady Institute of Urology at Johns Hopkins University..[1] His clinical and research focus is the bladder exstrophy-epispadias complex, which includes classic bladder exstrophy, epispadias, and cloacal exstrophy (also known as the OEIS complex). His lab manages the Douglas A. Canning exstrophy-epispadias database, which contains data on over 1,500 patients.[2] Dr. Gearhart is known for developing the modern staged repair of exstrophy (MSRE) surgical technique[3] with his mentor Robert Jeffs, which is used by several sites in the United States, Europe, and Israel[4]
