The International Economics Olympiad (IEO) is an annual competition in economics for pre-university students. It is one of the 13 International Science Olympiads.[1] It aims to promote logical thinking and the creative application of general knowledge in solving problems.[2]
The IEO is composed of three sections: an economics based multiple choice and open response question set, a financial literacy game, and a business case competition.[3] The competition surrounds various macroeconomic concepts such as elasticity, game theory, and the practical application of calculus.
In 2021, 215 students represented 44 countries, selected from a pool of 10,000.[4]
