Draft:Glimshire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Glimshire is a solo music project by Kevin Paddle of Red Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador a province of Canada. Kevin Paddle began his excursion into music in the early 1980's as a member of the popular bands Lotus and Sapphire.

After a hiatus from music he returned to playing live with the equally popular group Riff Raff.  A recording project with his cousin Rick Paddle which was released as The Paddle Project followed. At the same time he embarked on a recording project with his friend Ronnie Masters which was released as Masters and Paddle.

When Riff Raff ceased to perform in 2019 Glimshire was born. Not wanting to use his own name the name Glimshire was chosen after a small uninhabited island in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland.

Under the Glimshire banner 13 full length albums were created between 2019 and 2023. Having identified a niche on Spotify that was underserved Glimshire focused on instrumental music.

The musical offering ranges from jazz tinged rock and blues to country. It was an immediate success with 10,000 plus listeners in the 1st month, increasing steadily over time. At the time of writing this article (May 2014) streams are nearing 3 million on Spotify alone.
