Forester is a Los Angeles-based indie electronic duo consisting of Xander Carlson and David Parris. Carlson and Parris, who met in high school, are heavily influenced by nature, which is also evident in the duo name - named after Forester Pass and in their album names.[1] Their appreciation of nature is also reflected by their stated goal for their streaming to be at net zero carbon emissions, which is translated to the planting of 14 trees for every 12,000 streams.[2]
Forester released their debut single "Spark" on May 13, 2019, and about six months later released their 9-track debut album "Kerosene", which was written remotely while the two were in college in different parts of the country; the album features the singer/songwriter Madeline Megery[2]. Following the success of this release, Forester signed with Palm Tree Records, a Sony Music label co-founded by Kygo, in 2020.
On December 4, 2020, Forester released their second, 13-track album "A Range of Light"[3], featuring Madeline Megery and the electronic musician Kwesi. A few months after that, on June 2021, they performed their first live show in Red Rocks Music Festival.
Their third, 12-track album "Watercolor" was released on March 11, 2022[4]. The album features the electronic music producer Kotiēr, Kidnap, Madeline Megery.
Their fourth, 13-track album "Moonlight" was released on February 2, 2024[5], with a promotion tour that was kicked-off in their home state.[6] The album features many artists, including OCULA, Madeline Megery, Leo Stannard, bailey, Wye Oak, Jerro, Syn Cole, The Nicholas, Jai Wolf, and Boo Seeka.
