Denton D. Douglas is a Jamaican-American entrepreneur known for yacht building. He is the founder and CEO of a yacht-building company Monarch Yacht, which is also doing business as Monarch Marine Works.

Early life and education[edit]

Douglas was born on September 24, 1969, in Mandeville, Jamaica. His mother was a homemaker and a chef and his father worked in the Bauxite mining industry. He received his primary education at Balaclava Primary, and then went to Munro college in 1981. Douglas participated in the Penn Relays Carnival organized by the University of Pennsylvania, which resulted him a scholarship from Howard University. After completing his A and O levels in business from Munro College in 1988, he moved to Washington D.C, the USA, and attended Howard University to study finance in the following year.

Career[edit]

Douglas served as a financial advisor at Citi in 1994 and then joined Merill Lynch as a financial consultant in 1996. Later, in 2003, he left Merill Lynch and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where he became an associate vice president at Morgan Stanley for a year. Douglas then moved to North Palm Beach, Florida, and joined Summit Mortage Corporation as a branch manager in 2004. He was associated with the organization until 2007.

In 2011, he became a vice president at PNC Bank in South Florida until 2013. During his time at PNC Bank, he naively introduced a financial criminal, Jeremy Lee Marcus, to one of his employees. Jeremy Lee Marcus was then involved in a fraud scheme of $85 million. Later, Douglas was charged with civil money penalty orders from the court in 2021.

After leaving PNC Bank, Douglas founded Monarch Yacht in 2013, and since its establishment, serving as its CEO and the vice president for its global sales. The company designs and constructs yachts and also provides yacht customization, consultancy, managing, and brokerage services.
