Intro

Currents is a Psychedelic, Indie, and experimental band that delves into topics and concepts not often thought of by society and individuals.

The music is meant to make you feel related to the music and story by delving into relatable circumstances only if your own belief and emotions relate to it. The members themselves are still only minors giving their one of many slogan meaning.

History

Currents released their first single on January 31st titled “Disillusion” which was originally called “For now”  as a placeholder for the song's title. The band was formed in early January with the thought of creating a band dating to November of 2023. The band was solely to be playing for 1 night at the schools upcoming talent show. The band was originally 2 members. Blue Hernandez and another unknown member and ' even supposed to be a band. Upon realizing and practicing the song they were to be playing on Talent show night they realized they needed more people if they wanted to play without a backtrack. Blue called his friend of 5 years Zen Tinocos-Leo, Which they would soon become the bands creators.

Around the time Zen Joined he had many ideas about creating music and soon they begin creating their first demo. The first demo for “Disillusion” was created within a night. Instead of sleeping Zen had stayed up to create the first demo for “Disillusion” surprising the other band mates once they woke up.

2 of the band mates would take a whole period of class to write future songs and just jam out. 2 chord structure demos would be written one day and focused on later. Around this time the unknown member wasn’t to keen on staying partly out of exhaustion from playing for other bands and not being able to help contribute to writing songs.

The Unknown member was given an ultimatum to stay and help, or leave and don’t. Ultimately he chose to leave the band. No hostility was shared between members on the eventual department. On the same day of the situation the remaining members had an idea.

They decided to call on a friend of Zen and a Mutual friend of Blue to help play for the talent show since the year prior he had played with Zen at the talent show. After hearing the band that Blue and Zen had, the mutual friend wished to join and help out. Big changes were to come once Javonie joined. He had brought many ideas, chord structures, riffs. He even brought other opportunities to currents such as, posters, photography, and many other ideas that would help the band thrive where it continues to be.

Inspirations

The band have many inspirations being new music creators and old creators such as...

• The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison

• Arctic Monkeys
• Tame Impala

The band's music reflects every artist mentioned.

The bands mentioned are some of the bands favorite artists so it would make sense that they would be inspired by them and implement techniques and play styles by each artist.

The band heavily models after Tame impala the Australian psych pop solo band.

The use of Psychedelic tones and chord structures are a example of modeling after Tame Impala's Lonerism

Each member of the band have different people they were inspired by, but they all do share their love of the talented Australian solo artist Tame Impala.

The band would be inspired by Innerspeaker's album cover and create the album cover for "Disillusion" their first single.

The use of the band's name on the top left and album title on the top right and the picture of a colorful natural setting is a

spinning image of Innerspeaker.

Partners and Acquaintances

Currents are a Independent band therefor there are not signed to a record label owned by a corporation.

Along the way to becoming a band they would become good friends with another band that attended the same school as them known as "Lobotomy".

The band not signed to a major label is signed to their Independent label "Sunshine Top Records"

The name of the label is in reference to mushrooms therefore adding on to the psychedelic component of the band.

The members of currents currently reside in High-School where they try to study academics day and jam out night. The band contains 3 members and originally consisted of 2 members then switched to 3 and dropped a member and added a new member where it currently stays.

Each member's position in the band is all the same as they all play the same instruments. That way they all have a sense of each instrument and can brainstorm easier. Every member pretty much plays all the same instrument and if not have at least a basic understanding of the instruments needed to produce. The band is pretty much a perfect trio

Message

The message behind Currents music is to create music that delves into concepts and topics not often taught and known by society and individuals. The music is meant to challenge the societal norms and forcing us to see a different perspective of life and what we truly believe in. Topics like

Note: Not all topics have a song/track for them but are examples

"Disillusion" their debut single tells the story about the narrator feeling numbness and ache upon realizing something wasn't as good as believed to be.

Disillusion

Disillusion is a story about Challenging the societal norms and belief system and delves into the concept of reality and our perception of reality. It provokes how we view society and reality by making us realize everything wrong about anything before we truly feel the feeling of disillusionment. It encourages a different perspective on how we see elements of our existence and the feelings one might have after realizing these underlying details. Zen sings about “swimming in our disillusion” which is followed by sitting in pain due to realizing the negative aspects of our reality as a whole. The song repeatedly emphasizes feeling numbness and ache after the realization. The instrumental portion of the song takes you on a trip and feeling of Disillusionment within the song. The definition for “Disillusion” or “Disillusionment” is to feel something was not as great as once believed to be. Which can be incorporated into our life and existence.

"As a species we have evolved enough to the point of where our planet is trashed and ruined. People realize this but don’t fully comprehend that fact. We know living and existing feels good to some extent but when we realize our Planet, Continents, Countries, States. Cities, and even neighborhoods are doomed for the future and currently it makes us feel horrible realizing that fact". As stated by Blue.

The song doesn't explain what it means but the information is inferred.

The demo for Disillusion was created sometime between January 16-18 2024

The acoustic demo recording was recorded January 19 2024. The acoustic demo was preformed by Blue and Zen where they there brainstormed further ideas with what soon become Disillusion

Summary

3 young boys who have a mission to show the world just what they are made. Teaching the world and forcing new views on subjects that desperately need a change of perspective on. "We not going no where" as said by Blue. The band seems to take pride in there work and put in every minute they can to help the business and music. "Currents is not just a high school phase" - Blue.
