The 1992 Japan Guam Yacht Race was the seventh edition of the annual 1,530 mile offshore race from Japan to Guam. The race started midday on December 26, 1991 from Miura, Japan on Sagami Bay in wintery conditions. Nine boats started the race. Two boats retired early on the first day. Two boats capsized. Fourteen sailors lost their lives. Five boats finished the race. The first yacht to finish, Marishiten (Nelson/Marek 68), crossed the finish line just after midnight on January 1st, 1992.
