Sub-categories and pages[edit]

I find the inclusion of 'writing paper' as a sub-category for art materials and the omission of 'paper' and/or 'supports' as sub-categories to be very odd

I propose the following should be included as a sub-category

  • Supports - drawing and dry media
  • Supports - painting and wet media
  • Art Paper and Boards

There would be a certain amount of cross-linking. 'Art paper' is to distinguish from writing paper.

Coloured pencils are missing from the pages of art materials - I propose they are included as there are major issues re composition (eg they are not graphite) and lighfastness in their use in fine art which are not highlighted in the pencil page. It's akin to the difference between oil pastel and soft pastels - looking as if they are the same does not make them the same when their composition and properties are different. I've had a note on the pencil page since August suggesting a new article for coloured pencils and possible scope - and no dissenters. Actually - there's been no comment at all!Cosmopolitancats 17:23, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
