I think it is much more satisfactory to have a category such as this rather than the List of places in East Sussex since, so long as the appropriate reference is applied in the relevant article, the reference will appear. In the case of the List article, it requires a definite step to add to it - hence the fact that few of these villages appear on that list!

I realise that the title of the above List is one applied to all counties, but I question the efficacy of it. The List does not differentiate between city/town/village does it? Peter Shearan 19:10, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have now completed taking all the civil parishes listed in List of civil parishes in East Sussex, and writing a basic article for each. I know that in some cases a particular civil parish might encompass another settlement, usually hamlets, but there is no overall map of these parishes to enable me to judge what they are. I have used the map here which is of ancient ecclesiastical parishes, and many of those have the same boundaries, but this isn't always the case. At least this list shows over one hundred villages in the county! Peter Shearan 14:43, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As we are currently making Civil Parishes the lowest level this list will eventually become redundant. At the moment it is handy to find those villages that need to be merged. MortimerCat (talk) 06:24, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
