Lets Remember and Celebrate completion of one year of Shahi Snan of Kumbh Mela at Haridwar:

Seven crore people from around the world converging in a small town in north India over a period of four months...meditating; taking a dip in the holi river Ganges; be with their spiritual masters; listening to their discourses, debates; doing introspection; being part of a celebration... All this happening peacefully and with complete fulfilment. It happened in Haridwar early last year at the Kumbh Mela. It was praised as one of the most successful Kumbh Mela events in recent history. It was a prime example of peaceful co-existence, desire for knowledge and the Guru-Shisya tradition India has been known for.

On 14th of April 2011 we complete one year of “Shahi Snan” of Kumbh Mela held at Haridwar in the year 2010.

To celebrate this one-hour documentary in High Definition is now ready for the viewers of Discovery Channel. The documentary was conceived by the Delhi based New Age Media House, Explore Media Centre as early as in 2009. The purpose of the documentary on Kumbh Mela was to highlight the rich cultural and spiritual tradition of the nation to the present day India that is witnessing a major invasion from western culture and economic values. The show featured the commendable planning and execution skill of the state administration under the leadership of Dr.Ramesh Pokriyal ‘Nishank’. It also features the efforts of the Government machinery, Akhadas, the visitors and the people of Haridwar in making the event memorable, safe and enriching.

The show was completed over a period of one year keeping the interest of both National and International audiences in mind. It features the story of a family from Eastern Europe travelling thousands of miles to Haridwar to be with their spiritual master. One of the highlights of the show is a segment on Kumbh Mela and independence movement. The production was facilitated by a set of internationally reputed production professionals.

The documentary is airing on Discovery Channel on 14 April at 8pm. Lets watch the show, celebrate and enjoy !!
