Shudra or Ati-shudra[edit]

Most of the groups listed under this category come under the untouchables who were not traditionally part of the Varna system. As I mentioned before, apart from brahmins most if not all the other castes in India fall under the shudra category, be it Sat-shudra or Ati-shudra. Personally, I don't see why users Mathewvanitas and Sitush are so obsessed with the Shudra categorization or the varna system?

In modern India, apart from brahmins, nobody gets stuck up on what varna they belong to. Yes, most people will acknowledge what caste they belong to. People belonging to the former untouchable classes ( now known as scheduled castes) will use it to get advantage of affirmative action program available to them in jobs and colleges. To a lesser extent, the so called other backward classes also will use that categorization to get on the affirmative action gravy train.

Guys, as you are always ready to knock down other editors for using old references, consider varna categorization as a dated term. As I have said before, if you insist on having this category then include all the non-brahmin castes of India here, not just the untouchables and a few assorted castes !Jonathansammy (talk) 02:47, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't add false information. Here koeri are added on shudrq but they are Pure Kshatriya(Rajput Kachhwaha/Kushwaha) caste. Here the word should be "Kori" yes they are Scheduled and Shudra but Koeri are not. Please Remove Koeri from the list you created. There is the big difference b/w "Kori" and "Koeri". I have proof. Please can we remove this category[edit]

I do not understand why we need this category. It could only be used for castes that have formally accepted that they are Shudras. For example: the former untouchables. Otherwise it is disputed and then we cannot use this category anyway. I think we should get rid of this category all-together because it serves no purpose other than dividing Hindus. There are also some Brahmin castes that were classified as Shudras but they never accepted it and they continue to append Brahmin to their names(I will not name them here). But we cannot include them here as their non-acceptance shows that it is disputed. Thanks Acharya63 (talk) 04:31, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
