Suggestion - as I use two library systems that have IPs repeatedly blocked: could a three level entry system be introduced (ie username/password/place of origin = Xlibrary etc)? This would enable Innocent Bystanders to get in from certain areas of shared IPs (as the Wikivandals won't know where is allowed).

It gets annoying for IBs who wish to correct minor mistakes in passing etc to find themselves repeatedly blocked - and seeing the number of blocked IPs might persuade people to do other things.

Please transfer this to an appropriate discussion page.

I will transfer it to Wikipedia talk:Blocking policy proposal. You may want to have your say there too. Ansell 09:14, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey, can someone please try to convert all the school IP signs to this? {{sharedIPEDU| (Schoolname) }}. WhisperToMe 05:10, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism-only IPs[edit]

Why do we bother to keep around IPs such as 209.18.49.21 (talk · contribs)? After more than a year of occasional vandalism but no useful contributions, a simple cost/benefit assessment should have us permaban these (with a polite explanation on its talkpage). dab () 16:52, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Given that this is an archive of this IP's talk page, surely it doesn't exactly make sense for it to be listed separately? The archive isn't a shared IP, after all... --218.186.9.3 07:47, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

It doesn't seem appropriate that this category is included in Category:IP addresses used for vandalism or Category:Wikipedia vandalism. Not all shared IP addresses are used for vandalism. The {{sharedip}} tag can be placed on shared IPs that contribute constructively. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 15:58, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
