Bombings[edit]

Should bombings be categorized as explosions? E.g., should 1982 Berlin restaurant bombing really be in Category:Explosions in Berlin? A bombing is not the same as an explosion. An explosion is the result of a bombing. Debresser (talk) 17:22, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

They're subcategorised under bombings, because they cause explosions. An explosion is central to a bombing, including in the example you mention. Jim Michael (talk) 00:42, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Should airstrikes and/or missile attacks be categorized as explosions?[edit]

Currently, most airstrikes and missile attacks are not categorized as explosions. Should that change, so that those events are being categorized as explosions?

On the one hand, all these events involve explosions. On the other hand, people that look for explosions generally don't look for airstrikes and missile attacks. They rather look for events like the 2020 Beirut explosion.

I think the question boils down to whether we see an explosion as an aspect of an airstrikes and missile attacks, or as a defining characteristic of (at least the majority) of airstrikes and missile attacks.

As an aside, I was assuming that there was a Category:Missile attack or similar somewhere, but could not locate it.   Cs32en Talk to me  23:36, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
