What exactly is an "evangelical denomination"[edit]

This category seems to be poorly defined. It contains one group of denominations that would generally be considered to be in "evangelicalism", and another group that merely have "evangelical" in their names regardless of their actual theology. For example, many Lutheran groups include "evangelical" in their names because originally the followers of Lutheran Reformation were known as "Evanglicals", with the name "Lutheran" not being used until later. If the only reason that a denomination gets included in this category is its name, then I don't think this is a legitimate category. Indyguy (talk) 02:55, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I added a link to Evangelicalism as the main article for this category and removed most of the Lutheran church bodies from the category. Indyguy (talk) 01:50, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
