Rename?[edit]

I suggest renaming this to "Disputes in English grammar and usage" or "Disputes in English grammar and style" or some such. In many cases, as with split infinitive, part of the dispute is whether the question is one of grammar at all; some people have ben removing pages from this category on that basis. A rename would obviate such concerns and produce a category which was more comprehensive and more coherent. jnestorius^(talk) 23:34, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think anyone could reasonably claim that no one considers split infinitives ungrammatical. I would imagine that anyone who removed that page from this category on that basis must be pushing some sort of point of view, though I guess I'd have to see them make their case.

BTW, just so you know, categories can't be renamed exactly; rather, they must be deleted and re-created at the new name. This isn't a big deal, but as a result, category renames have to be brought up at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion (formerly known as Wikipedia:Categories for deletion).

Spelling of "you"[edit]

I wasn't sure to put this. I am very sorry if it is causing problems in terms of being in the wrong category/place. We can change it. Anyway, I would like help finding answers to something.

I want to know who decided how to spell the word "you". What the hell was going on? If they were trying to achieve the sound produced by that combination of letters, which is essentially how a language is constructed, some combination of distinguishable sounds... i guess...big guess(i can barely speak properly myself let alone understand how a language is constructed)............. But anyway, if they are after that particular sound, why would they choose three letters instead of one "u". It sounds the same, it requires less effort to write and it would be easier to teach to the little ones. I mean, they were at least smart enough on the "I" part. One sound, one letter. But what is with the "you"? I think this needs to be changed. We need to get "YOU" changed to "U".

So ya, thats what i would like help getting answers on. "I" was hoping that "U" could help me.
