Splitting up the war[edit]

It looks like the war has been split up to before and after the long truce. During that truce lots of things did happen though, including operations, sieges, and battles. It seems better to split it up in three chapters, per Dutch leader: William the Silent, Maurice, Frederick Henry. Each of these can be subdivided into a further 3 parts:

  1. Civil War = William the Silent: revolt, civil war, new sovereign.
  2. Independence War = Maurice: secure the heartland, military revolution, the Long Truce.
  3. Coalition War = Fredrick Henry: Thirty Years War, French alliance, William II.

One more chapter can look at the overseas conflict. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.106.132.202 (talk) 11:51, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • This was an international event that should be looked at from an international (not a purely Dutch) perspective. --Andreas Philopater (talk) 15:48, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
