Scope[edit]

This could be a really big one, as a significant number of prominent classical performers (those who have WP articles) play at least one piece of contemporary classical music. Perhaps this should be for performers who are particularly known for playing such repertoire (as with the Category:Contemporary classical music ensembles)? People like Bertram Turetzky or Paul Zukofsky, Heinz Holliger, or David Tanenbaum? Badagnani (talk) 02:24, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguity[edit]

There's an ambiguity here. Is it to be read as:

  • (A) "Performers of contemporary classical music", or
  • (B) "Contemporary performers of classical music"? Or indeed,
  • (C) "Contemporary performers of contemporary classical music"?

I see some dead people listed (Buhlig, Cage, Cowell, Hovhaness - and now Yvonne Loriod), so it doesn't seem to be B or C. That leaves A. What's to stop us going all the way back and including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and all the rest who played music that was, in their day, contemporary? If that seems too way out, maybe we need to have a proper discussion about what this category is all about. -- (User:JackofOz =) 202.142.129.66 (talk) 02:56, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
