The City of Springfield, Massachusetts features seventeen distinct neighborhoods, each of which has its own history and contemporary character. Some of Springfield's neighborhoods contain additional geographic markers; for example, McKnight and Old Hill are adjacent to and separated by Mason Square, and the Maple-High/Six Corners neighborhood includes Springfield's original Gold Coast, Maple Hill and the Ridgewood National Historic District. Liberty Heights contains Hungry Hill and Forest Park contains Forest Park Heights.
