The production of automobiles in the territory of today's Czech Republic began in 1897 with car Präsident. Other Czech car manufacturers were Praga, Škoda, Z, Aero, Walter, Wikov, Start, Enka, Gatter, Šíbrava, Aspa, Vaja, Jawa, etc.


As of 2010, the Czech Republic has the 2nd highest number of manufactured cars per capita, followed by former fellow federative republic of Slovakia (First place belongs to Slovenia).
