Yang Jingru (Chinese: 杨婧茹 b. July 10, 2006)[1] is a Chinese speed skater who won the gold medal for short track speed skating at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics – Women's 1500 metres.[2][3][4][5][6][7]
Sports career[edit]
On 18 December 2022, at the 3rd Russian–Chinese Winter Youth Games in Changchun, China, the Chinese team consisting of Yang, Sun Yiming, Pang Siyu, Hou Yuming and Wang Jiajing won the championship in the women's 3000m short track speed skating relay competition.[8]
Yang won in the U-19 women's 1000m short track speed skating at the National Skating U Series Inter-school League which was held in Hulunbuir, China in February 2023.[9] On March 5, she won the women's 1500m championship in the 2022-2023 National Short Track Speed Skating Youth Championship held in Qitaihe.[10] At the 15th Heilongjiang Provincial Games on April 2023, Yang won the gold medal for women's 1000m short track speed skating.[11]
On October 2023, she won the championship in the women's 1500m Group A of the China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League Youth Group.[12]
On March 5, she became the champion in the youth group women's 1500m at the 2022-2023 National Short Track Speed Skating Youth Championships. In the B group final of the women's 3000m relay, her team finished fourth with a time of 04:39.448. In April, at the 15th Heilongjiang Provincial Games, Yang Jingru won the gold medal in the junior women's 1000m short track speed skating event. On September 17, at the China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League Hohhot leg, the Heilongjiang team, which Yang Jingru was part of, won the silver medal in the youth group women's 3000m relay. On September 22, Yang Jingru won the bronze medal in the women's 1500m youth group at the 2023-2024 China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League (Hulunbuir leg) and the "14th Winter Games" qualifier. On October 20, she won the championship in the women's 1500m A group in the youth group at the China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League. She also won the championship in the women's 1000m A group and the women's 3000m relay in the youth group. On October 31, she won the championship in the women's 1000m youth group at the China Cup Short Track Speed Skating Elite League Qitaihe leg. On December 17, at the 2023-2024 National Short Track Speed Skating Championships, the Heilongjiang Winter Sports and Reserve Talent Management Center team, consisting of Li Jing, Yang Jingru, Kong Weiqi, and Wang Jiajing, won the bronze medal in the women's 3000m relay.
On January 12, 2024, at the 14th National Winter Games, Yang Jingru, who was jointly trained by Heilongjiang and Hebei, won the bronze medal in the youth group women's 1500m with a time of 2:29.103. On January 14, at the same event, the Heilongjiang team, consisting of Yan Tongyao, Lin Jingyi, Yang Jingru, Wang Kexin, and Li Jing, won the silver medal in the youth group women's 3000m relay with a time of 4:18.422. Yang Jingru also won the championship in the women's 1000m A group in the youth group with a time of 1:30.770.
