Missing links[edit]

I don't think the project makes as much use of the 'xxxx in rail transport' pages as it could, although I suspect that a 'project policy' would need to be drawn up to ensure consistent application.

Anyway, having just stumbled across Years in rail transport (indirectly) -- after noticing that someone has removed the year link '1902' from Buffer stop, "in accordance with WP:MOSNUM" -- I realised that the 'xxxx in rail transport' pages have a notable omission. It would strike me as sensible for each of these pages to also link to 'Rail accidents in xxxx', 'Railway stations opened in xxxx', and 'Railway stations closed in xxxx', etc, plus any other like pages that may appear in the future. This should be an easy fix to apply using a template (and a bot?).

Also, I'm sure it would be useful for these pages to provide a quick link from each page to Years in rail transport -- again, a link from a template would probably be best.

Thoughts?

Seems like a reasonable navigation need to me. I'll work up something for the navbox template on them. Slambo (Speak) 12:27, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A few things[edit]

Maybe it's a good idea to redirect this talk page to the WP:Trains talk page? Also, I was wondering why there is a need for articles like June 2010 in rail transport. It would seem the article 2010 in rail transport isn't so large that it couldn't hold all of the events on the one page. Having everything all on one page would make it much easier for the reader to navigate.

Finally, MOS:FLAGS asks for the country's name to be included next to the flag (or at least nearby?). In many of the items on these lists this isn't the case.. for example June 22 – Bergen Light Rail is opened., in the 2010 in rail transport article.. or August 23 - The Suvarnabhumi Airport rail link opens after a 4 year delay, connecting the Suvarnabhumi Airport with the City Centre. The reader may not know the flags of Norway and Thailand; and this isn't clear from the caption.. so the country's name should be added somewhere.
