As part of the revamp, here's a userbox I created in the last few minutes. I've already added it to the main page. I hope all members place it proudly on their profiles! Feedback (talk) 07:35, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Very nice! I always read this project page. I hope that all those interested in Puerto Rico do the same. It would be nice if someone who has the time would revive the "old" newsletter too. Tony the Marine (talk) 01:06, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
    • I will take care of the newsletter, maybe changing the format a bit. - Caribbean~H.Q. 20:49, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

NRHP and other historic sites

Casa Paoli photo provided under broad Creative Commons license by Puerto Rico PRSHPO staff member Juan Llanes Santos. Subject of one of 3 PR DYKs i got, this one kindly shared by Mercy11

Hey, I just want to point out it's been a year since i visited to mention that i was developing out tables for the NRHP-listed historic sites in Puerto Rico, in between May and June 2009 notes here, now archived at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Puerto Rico/Archive 2#help dividing PR into 2 or more geographical chunks, for NRHP list. The lists of NRHP-listed places, indexed at National Register of Historic Places listings in Puerto Rico has been developing nicely since.

Back then regular NRHP editors nation-wide User:Lvklock and User:Niagara helped in key ways. Since then I notice multiple contributions in the record from NRHPers User:Sanfranman59 and User:Pubdog, and User:KudzuVine (who specializes in Historic American Buildings Survey public domain photos).

And, mostly, PR editors have done a great job, including User:Mercy11, User:Jmundo, User:Againme and User:Quazgaa, with the most edits, and others as well. Quazgaa recently succeeded in getting some photos released into the public domain from one Puerto Rico organization too.

It's been a pleasure watching this take off. I salute you! And happy fourth of July, a few days early! --doncram (talk) 03:08, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

  • Hi Doncram and my fellow Wikipedians, I don't mean to rain on anybody's parade, but it was I who recently succeeded in getting some photos released into the public domain from the Puerto Rican State Historic Preservation Office and created the template for such images, upon User:Quazgaa's request. See:Good news. The template which I created to be used on the images from the Puerto Rican State Historic Preservation Office is the following: {{PD-PRGov-PRSHP}} Tony the Marine (talk) 07:46, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
    • Oops i'm sorry for not checking and reporting that properly. Thanks, Tony the Marine, for your doing that, which is a major accomplishment (completed or almost completed)! Actually at the copyright issues page (where there's some continuing discussion needed) i thot u might have been helping out as a regular editor on copyright issues, without particular Puerto Rico association or focus, like User:VernoWhitney's involvement appears to be, in the continuing discussion here. I see now you do a lot more for PR topics on wikipedia. Thanks again. By the way, if any PR regulars are likely to be generous with barnstars anytime soon, the technical/other helping specialists like Verno and the NRHP editors i mentioned above, should be considered for recognition! Back to setting up fireworks for tonight.... :) --doncram (talk) 17:02, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the absence

After rebuilding the page, I haven't been active here. The problem is that I got a job as Sub-Director for one of the Departments (Hidration) in the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games here in Puerto Rico; the job was very last notice as the other guy had just resigned and I took the opportunity of a lifetime. This has kept me busy for the past week usually from 6am-10pm (without a lunch break... I get to eat some snacks during the work though!) Its a lot of hassle and I don't have time to be editing articles. However, when all is said and done, I will be back full-time; Feedback 04:00, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Congrats! Be sure to bring back some pictures that we can use to illustrate our CACG series ;-) - Caribbean~H.Q. 06:32, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
You know what, I have full access; I can take pictures of anything and everything. If you guys tell me what pictures are needed, I can go take them myself or have the assistants take them. Tell me what you'd like. Feedback 13:19, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
  • Congrats Feedback, the new Sub-Director for one of the Departments (Hidration) in the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. Over here we all rejoice on the good fortune of one of our own. Good to see you back. Tony the Marine (talk) 15:37, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
I think that something to illustrate Puerto Rico national basketball team and Puerto Rico national baseball team should be the priority, group pictures would be awesome since they can be used in multiple player profiles. The boxers José Pedraza and Jonathan González are in need of images, while Camilo Pérez doesn't have an article yet, but he has been sucessful and having an image of him would be nice when its written. Also, we can't forget Vanessa García. - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:10, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Question

Why is it that some of us when we write biographies we do not add the section of "See also" with the PR Portal and the link to the names of other famous Puerto Ricans such as "List of famous Puerto Ricans"? I really don't think that it is to much to ask that this section be added as standard format procedure to the Puerto Rican related articles since it is to our best interest to let others (the world) know that there are many outstanding Puerto Ricans in the same field of the subject of the article or articles. Tony the Marine (talk) 22:10, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Tony, it could be one of many reasons. Basically I think it comes down to this,,,people forget,,, and they need to be reminded ocassionally. With other things in my (/our) heads such as milk for the baby, study for the final, why did the boss talk to me that way, etc,, people just forget.
I don't know if I might be one of the guilty parties (and I don't know if I am, but it doesn't matter, I am not seeking to find out!!!) but I don't mind going back thru my bio articles and checking them out for that missing section. Thanks for the reminder and, as always, Cheers!!! Mercy11 (talk) 21:42, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Ahh, and one more thing, maybe there is a link to a boiler plate for that section somewhere. That would make things easier,,,if I ever forgeot I'd know it was discussed here and would come back to find the link here! Is that fair? 2Cheers, Mercy11 (talk) 21:42, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Since we are often working with stubs, most of the time the focus is in the prose. The truth is that while writting the format is the last thing in my mind, that comes after the work is done. - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:25, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
