This is to introduce you to a new Wikiproject called AfroCine. This new project is dedicated to improving the Wikipedia coverage of the history, works, people, places, events, etc, that are associated with the cinema, theatre and arts of Africa, African countries, the carribbean, and the diaspora. If you would love to be part of this or you're already contributing in this area, kindly list your name as a participant on the project page here.
Furthermore, In the months of October and November, the WikiProject is organizing a global on-wiki contest and edit-a-thon tagged: The Months of African Cinema. This is a global online edit-a-thon, which is happening in at least 5 language editions of Wikipedia, including the English Wikipedia! AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October![edit]

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.
The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Request for information on WP1.0 web tool[edit]
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? The Months of African Cinema Contest Continues in November![edit]

It is already the middle of the contest and a lot have been achieved already! We have been able to get over 1,500 articles created in over fifteen (15) languages! Articles about Gubernatorial Elections in Nigeria[edit]
- I have submitted a rapid grant request to the Wikimedia Foundation seeking to organize an online writing contest on the English Wikipedia to create articles about gubernatorial elections in all the 36 states of Nigeria. Nigeria has conducted gubernatorial elections in 1979, 1983, 1992, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019. But, articles about these elections are missing on Wikipedia and this project will seek to specifically solve this problem.
- The contest is expected to run from 1st March 2021 till 31st May 2021.
- Overall winner is expected to receive a HP Laptop while the runner-up and second runner-up are expected to receive a Tecno SPARK 5 PRO and Romoss 20000 mAh Power Bank respectively.
- I've created two samples of articles that will be created during the contest which are 2020 Edo gubernatorial election and 2020 Ondo gubernatorial election.

Wiki Indaba 2021 is here![edit]
Hosted by the Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda, the first ever virtual Wiki Indaba conference is taking place online from the 5th to the 7th of November 2021 under the theme Rethink + Reset : Visions of the future.
Wiki Indaba 2021 is a unique opportunity to come together to build the capacity of African Wikimedians both within the continent and the diaspora to foster the growth of the coverage and our involvement in Wikimedia projects.
The call for submissions is open, please submit your session proposal either as a presentation, panel discussion, lightning talk, or workshop before September 24th 2021.

Federal Medical Centres, University Teaching Hospitals and Federal Specialty Hospitals are Federal government of Nigeria owned hospitals controlled by the Federal Ministry of Health. There are a total of 22 Federal Medical Centres, 20 University Teaching Hospitals and 13 Federal Specialty Hospitals in Nigeria, but articles about these hospitals are missing on Wikipedia and this project will seek to create these articles on the English Wikipedia.

There is a proposal to split these two article "classes" into a new parameter "time", in order to standardise article-rating across Wikipedia (per RfC), while also allowing simultaneous usage of quality criteria and time for interest projects.
