Focus on Macau women[edit]

As a result of WikiProject Women in Red's focus on Macau in February 2022, many new or improved articles are being tagged WikiProject Macau. It therefore seems to me that the project is no longer inactive. I cannot find where the "inactive" template is placed and therefore cannot alter it. Perhaps Moxy can help?--Ipigott (talk) 11:02, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I changed Macau to active on [[1]] but this does not seem to be effective. (Chongkian) --Ipigott (talk) 11:17, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have activated again (remove the inactive word) the WikiProject Macau shown in its WikiProject banner at Template:WikiProject Macau. Chongkian (talk) 14:29, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Chongkian. Now I can see where the "inactive" used to be. I've restored the deleted class and importance categories so that relevant article talkpages can make use of the wikiproject banner.--Ipigott (talk) 14:05, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Now it's time to make Macau's Wikipedia articles great again ~ ;) Chongkian (talk) 14:57, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Chongkian: I wonder if you could revive the assessment stats on the main page. For some reason, I cannot get the table to display but can see the stats work under Category:Macau articles by quality and Category:Macau articles by importance. I've listed the 12 new articles created this month on the main page. Perhaps there are others since last September which should be listed.--Ipigott (talk) 11:03, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I will have a look on that tomorrow. I think I've done a similar work before (reviving the stats page/table) on other WikiProject. And one more, just my suggestion. I think we need to create a different/separate page for all of the new articles into one separate page, because when more & more new Wikipedia articles have been created, that 'New Article' section can be really long and can a bit disturb the navigation of that main page of WikiProject Macau. Main page should be complete yet brief enough to show overview, but not becoming too lengthy. Chongkian (talk) 15:48, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Chongkian: Thanks for the stats. I've tried to make the main page a bit brighter and more readable by changing the background colour and the font size and by reducing the space taken by new articles.--Ipigott (talk) 10:10, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
For that self-updating number of articles in WikiProject Macau, that original template for that counting display is User:WP 1.0 bot/Tables/Project/Macau. Looks like I need to study their existing coding first to see what went wrong that it doesn't update it automatically once a new article with WikiProject Macau tag is added. This might take some time as to not create extra error that disrupt the other statistical counting. I shall look slowly code by code or line per line. Chongkian (talk) 00:25, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like the WikiProject assessment table has been running well now. Do let me know if there are some coding error/mistake in which it doesn't record/update itself whenever we make WikiProject Macau tagging in the Macau-related articles. Chongkian (talk) 04:07, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Now I guess for the next step is to assess all of the articles listed in Category:Unassessed Macau articles and Category:Unknown-importance Macau articles. Chongkian (talk) 01:55, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on disallowing use of the ʻokina in Chinese romanized article titles[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion that may interest you. Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style#Disallowing use of the ʻokina in Chinese romanized article titles proposes that the ʻokina gennerally be prohibited from article titles derived from Chinese whenever it does not adhere to the English Wikipedia policy to use commonly recognizable names. Plese join the discussion. Thank you. Peaceray (talk) 17:12, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Project-independent quality assessments[edit]

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Women in Green's 5th Edit-a-thon[edit]

Hello WikiProject Macau:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2023!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2023, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!
