Projects's ugliest article

Perhaps this projects worse page, in need of an extreme makeover, is the page for the Brisbane suburb of Middle Park, Queensland. It has more than 40 external links, too many lists including lists of every street and shop in the suburb and lots of other insignificant information. - Shiftchange (talk) 01:15, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Ouch. Shaming my region, that is. I'll help out. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 09:03, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Project Page

I think the project page(s) could do with a bit of cleaning up to group relevant information. e.g. providing a list of brisbane related categories for use, a list of brisbane related templates etc etc so that the project page is a one stop shop for info needed to edit brisbane pages. I'll go ahead and start doing this in the next few days if no one has any objections. Suggestions appreciated --Spuzzdawg (talk) 10:21, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

I've created a sandbox page to test out ideas. I've created a navigation box there heavily based on Wikiproject Australia's navigation box to try and make it easier to find project information. Suggestions welcome. --Spuzzdawg (talk) 05:30, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

I suggest that you Be Bold and just go ahead. I'm hoping that I can help out where I can. Nicholas Perkins (TC) 09:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Archive bot for talk page

I'm currently trialling an archive bot on my user talk page. If this is successful I intend to implement talk archiving here, as this page has become quote bloated. Nicholas Perkins (TC) 09:35, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Done. ClueBot III will pass through here in the next 24 hours and archive automatically. — E talk 09:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
All nice and clean :) — E talk 10:48, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Peer review for Expo '88

I've made some changes to Expo '88 and started a peer review. I selected this since it is a top importance article which is only B class at the moment. I've tried to structure it a bit cleaner but would appreciate some other hands and eyes to see what you can do. Nicholas Perkins (TC) 05:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Woo, citations needed. My specialty. I've watchlisted. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 22:51, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Featured Article Collaboration

It seems a little sad that we only have 1 FA quality article and 3 GA quality article. Especially if you stop to think that most of those are thanks to WikiProject Powderfinger. Would any others be interested in having a Featured Article Collaboration, where one article is collaborated on until such time as it gets to FA status, or even just to GA status for articles which don't make good FA candidates?

I figure there is no point going ahead to create a section for this with templates and the like if the consensus is that this isn't going to work. This project does seem a little quiet at the moment. Nicholas Perkins (TC) 03:01, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

It's a bit awkward that I've done 2 of the 3 GAs, and the FA :) I think we should keep working on Brisbane (now a GAN?) and try and get that featured. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 04:46, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree. Brisbane was going to be my suggestion. Nicholas Perkins (TC) 04:47, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Just drawing everyone's attention to this. May come in handy for future stuff... dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 11:06, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Great, thanks for that. — E talk 14:01, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Good idea, thanks :) Nicholas Perkins (TC) 02:41, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Future of WikiProject:Brisbane

I think it is important that we consider the future of this WikiProject. It appears that most operators are either silent or non-existant.

Is there a viable future for this project or should this be rolled up into WP:QLD?

  • Opinion - My thoughts is that perhaps it is time to wrap things up and look at doing things from a Queensland perspective. With the number of active Wikipedians within the project being small and the number of active Queensland Wikipedians being similarly small (in comparison to averages for other countries/states in the world - and it's all just speculation), it would be best to use the resources that are available with the right focus. Nicholas Perkins (TC) 14:16, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Just to add that I could be convinced otherwise. Perhaps if effort was put into meeting regularly online as a project group and fostering project member numbers like other projects. Of course, we all have limited time online, hence my comments above. (I have a habit of having 'other thoughts' after the first one...) Nicholas Perkins (TC) 14:20, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep The call to wrap up this project is premature. - Shiftchange (talk) 04:25, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Mackenzie, Queensland

Hello. Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles needs your help. Mackenzie, Queensland has been lacking references since June, 2006. Could you please take a minute out of your busy day to help add sources? Thanks for your time. Viriditas (talk) 12:59, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Added a few. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 23:37, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Anyone got an image from around there? dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 23:40, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
I'll see if I can make it out there sometime this week and snap a few shots up for you. — E talk aussie 10:51, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Excellent. While your in the area could you grab a few photos for the Gateway Motorway and Bulimba Creek articles? Wishart is lacking any photos as well, :) - Shiftchange (talk) 23:12, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Wesley Hospital article naming

Can anyone suggest the correct title for an article about this hospital? Currently The Wesley Hospital is used in a couple of places while Wesley Hospital, Brisbane is listed in the WPBrisbane To-do list. - Shiftchange (talk) 13:10, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

I'd go with Wesley Hospital, Brisbane, and create a redirect from the other. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 09:14, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Agreed with H2O. — E talk aussie 10:12, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

City streets

I have created a couple of new stubs that were red links on the Brisbane article, Margaret Street, Brisbane and Charlotte Street, Brisbane (tommorrow I will do Mary Street, Brisbane). They have been marked for notability so I would appreciate some help with expanding and adding references to establish their significance. - Shiftchange (talk) 07:39, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Suburbs in nearby Local Government Areas.

The Greater Brisbane Area contains many suburbs and localities outside of the Brisbane City Local Government Area. --smadge1 (talk) 08:51, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Category:Bus stations in South East Queensland

I noticed that many articles in Category:Bus stations in Brisbane are also in the Category:Bus stations in South East Queensland which is not needed since I placed the former as a sub-category of the later. Some help removing the busways in Brisbane from the South East Qld cat. while checking they are in the Brisbane cat. would be good. - Shiftchange (talk) 05:46, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Apparently I have stumbled across a messy category hierarchy. I think the problem is the lack of a Category:Public transport in Queensland. If we had that there would less overlapping categorisation, which is what I was trying to fix. It is not logical to have South East Queensland categories or sites outside of Brisbane within Brisbane categories. For example there are Category:Regional railway stations in Queensland and Category:Bus stations in South East Queensland subcategories of Category:Public transport in Brisbane Is there a reason for it being setup that way? - Shiftchange (talk) 06:37, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
I doubt it. My guess is that someone in SEQ organised their area, and didn't do the rest of the state. It'd probably be a good idea to go back and do it properly. Rebecca (talk) 09:09, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Instead of creating Category:Public transport in Queensland I just placed them into Category:Public transport in Australia. I have removed the extra categories but noticed two other issues. 8 of the remaining bus stations in Category:Bus stations in South East Queensland are incorrectly named. They have ", in Brisbane" in their name when they are actually in Ipswich, Logan City or Moreton Bay Regional Council. The other problem is that Category:Bus stations in Brisbane and Category:Public transport in Brisbane are still on nearly Brisbane bus station articles when the first is a sub-category of the second. I suppose I will get around to removing them. I would've done it at the same time had I noticed the duplication some time earlier. - Shiftchange (talk) 13:02, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Journalist enquiry

My name is Michael Lund and I'm a journalist in Brisbane. I'd be keen to talk to other members of this Brisbane project for a possible story. Please get in touch at www.michaellund.com.au. I look forward to hearing from you.Michael Lund (talk) 01:05, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of article on The Pancake Manor as proposed by User:Rich257

I will be removing the 'marked for deletion' tag on the Pancake Manor article as the subject in question is one of Brisbane's better known restaurants and even more importantly, is located in a heritage listed classical church building in the heart of the Brisbane CBD. I believe this is notability enough and with a little more digging around, I am sure I will be able to discover more facts that will add to the notability. As for the referencing and wikification, I will be working on this article starting today and hope to be able to make it ship-shape within the next week. If any editor has any objections to my removing the 'marked for deletion' tag, kindly let me know within 12 hours of my post. I am sorry, I cannot allow for more time for responses as the 7 days allotted to the article before deletion run out in another 24 hours. I stumbled across this article an hour ago and am sure that I will be able to push it into shape. Manoj Prajwal (talk) 20:33, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Photo request

Would someone mind photographing the Virgin Blue headquarters (Virgin Village) in Bowen Hills? Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 22:58, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Portal:Brisbane

Hello all,

I have created and am currently working on Portal:Brisbane, I am just posting here to ask for local Brisbanite help. Since I'm not a local (I'm from (San Diego]]) I am not as familiar with the city as i would like to be. Again just asking for help, thanks. SoCal L.A. (talk) 04:15, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

June Meetup

We have three people at Wikipedia talk:Meetup/Brisbane interested in a meetup on June 26, and it is definitely overdue as the Brisbane "WP10" meetup was eclipsed by natural forces. John Vandenberg (chat) 09:21, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
