In this course students will study works of art and design created by women artists since 1900 till the present day. The course will focus on the regions of Western Europe, Central-Eastern Europe (including Russia), North America and South America, with some mention of other regions. The textbook (Women, Art and Society by Whitney Chadwick) will be accompanied by other readings: primary sources and secondary scholarly sources related to the topic as well as feminist theory. Students will work throughout the whole semester on their Wikipedia assignment. Each student will write a Wikipedia article about a woman artist, either a living one or one who was active in the years after 1900. Having chosen an artist, and received the instructor's approval, students will work on a Bibliography of scholarly sources, which they will use to write their Wikipedia article. I will be grateful for your advice and guidance as this is the first time I am creating a Wikipedia course assignment.
