Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/Authors of uBLPs

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a sub-project of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Unreferenced_Biographies_of_Living_Persons. Since early 2010 the community is no longer prepared to accept new biographies of living people unless they have a reference. This project is working on the backlog of articles that have been tagged as unreferenced BLPs, and in this sub-project we are using a bot to communicate with the authors of those articles.

FAQs[edit]

Q Why are you telling me about these old articles, am I responsible for them?

A Nobody owns an article on Wikipedia, if you no longer have access to the sources you used when you created your articles then don't worry about the message. But sometimes the original author still has access to the sources they used and many articles have been referenced by these reminders. We also want to make sure you know that policy has changed and the creation of unreferenced BLPs is no longer desirable.

Q That article wasn't unreferenced, it was linked to MySpace, YouTube or some other openly edited source that Wikipedia doesn't accept as a reliable source.

A The bot was looking at articles tagged as unreferenced BLPs, some tags were wrong, if your article has a self published or primary source feel free to correct the tags to {{refimproveBLP}} and either {{Selfpublished}} or {{Primary Sources}} as appropriate. Or better still add wp:reliable sources for the information in the article and you can take off the tag.

Q On second thoughts maybe some of my very early articles weren't on particularly notable people. Can I get rid of them?

A If you are pretty much the only editor who has written parts of that article then just tag it with {{db-author}} and it's gone.
