Project Name: OFFLINE 500

Purpose[edit]

To create a list of 500 articles for use as a base list for compiling 500 article offline collections for all Indic languages including English.

Guidelines[edit]

Few guidelines for taking the project forward:

  • Aim is to release an English Wikipedia CD that contain a selected number of articles.
  • Primary focus is on school & college students
  • Need to make sure that the selected articles have more relevant from an Indian school/college student's perspective.
  • Since this is the first release, we are targeting a small number of articles.
  • The Articles need to have more relevance from the perspective of India.
  • Articles about People will form part of the relevant section they belong to, i,e, Scientists will form part of "Science and Mathematics" section.
  • Nesting of articles is permitted both under level 1 and under level 2 headings. See this for an example.
