  • " The capital of the Pandyan kingdom was initially Korkai, around 600 BCE,[7] and was later moved to Koodal (now Madurai) during the reign of Nedunj Cheliyan I.[8]" State only from when to when was it the capital. No need for info about the capital before Madurai

  • IMO, nicknames are not needed in leda

  • can a better lead image be used. May be a montage like in Mumbai

  • Standardize: BC or BCE (AD/CE): 600 BCE v/s 3rd century BC

  • "the city is mentioned by Megasthenes, the Greek ambassador to India and Kautilya, the minister of the Mauryan Emperor Chandragupta Maurya" add dates of persons

  • how is " which established the province of Ma'bar which later became independent as the Ma'bar Sultanate" relevant to Madurai? Was Madurai part of Ma'bar? Link Ma'bar to appropriate article

  • Lead history stops at 1801, one needs to take it to the present. See Mumbai. Same case with "History" section

  • Make paras based on current name. Historical names and nick names
    • Each name has a one liner description and feel it is not required to have separate sections.
  • "A leading theory for the etymology of Madurai is the derivative from Madhura (Sweetness) when Shiva blessed the land by showering divine nectar on the city from his matted locks"
