Drawing of Iasi[edit]

I uploaded an image of a drawing of Iasi, but I didn't know how to fix it to make it look right. Could someone fix it and upload it to the article of Iasi? The drawing is from 17th century. --Candide, or Optimism 10:21, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is this any better? I'm sorry, but it's a bit crooked and the GIMP makes it somewhat fuzzy when I rotate and skew it. Did anyone do anything better with it? Andrei Stroe 16:03, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is! I added it to the article. Thanks! --Candide, or Optimism 17:55, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Romania-related userboxes[edit]

I have seen on Wikipedia's userbox section that userboxes related to Romania are few and far between (currently there isn't even a "This user is from Romanian" userbox featuring, while one for Moldova exists!). To change this situation, one can suggest ideas, as I did with a Romania-Moldova reunion userbox (which was quickly created, see here)

Users who are interested in seeing more Romania-userboxes can of course also create new ones themselves. Anclation 13:42, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They deleted it. --Candide, or Optimism 21:46, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored it. Even though I don't believe in that cause, the box should remain as long as there are ones on Chechen independence and secession of New York and Chinese reunification. Ronline 23:05, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Who deleted it? --Candide, or Optimism 23:09, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
User:Mikkalai deleted it. Ronline 23:59, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you are going to ignore Jimbo's request, fine with me. You know my opinion about certain extra polite admins. mikka (t) 00:15, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My stand: either delete all boxes in that particulat category — or none. --Candide, or Optimism 00:16, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I just want to know mikka, did you also while you were at it delete the Chinese reunification userbox? Or the Korea unification userbox? If not, then why did you single out the one involving a cause many Romanians and Moldovans believe in? Anclation 09:05, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree with that. I also think these userboxes should be allowed. There are other which are much more arbitrary, such as {{user flag Estonia}} (but which I support nonetheless, they should change that flag. Ronline 01:11, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Traian Savesculu[edit]

Has anyone heard of this guy? I was reading an article on Britannica about Social interaction and at the end of the article it said:

"Symbiosis is social, even though the late biologist Traian Savesculu of Romania was half right when he joked “Symbiosis is like marriage—a mutual exploitation.” Like all social organizations, it is both cooperative and competitive."

I checked Wiki and found no article on him. I then googled him and found only two results. Who is he? I mean, if he's notable enough to be mentioned on Britannica, he should be mentioned in many other places, because Britannica is very picky in their coverage. They don't even have Titulescu mentioned, nor other Romanian scientist that are otherwise more known. --Candide, or Optimism 19:46, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The ending "esculu" seems to suggest to be from 19th-century. I also looked for "Traian Savescu", but I bet this is not the same guy: :-)

De la wiki ro: "Traian Săvulescu (1889–1963), fondatorul şcolii româneşti de fitopatologie." A pretty exotic name cited 40 years ago, in a time there were no copy-paste utilities.--Vasile 21:06, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Cities in Romania and Template:Romanian cities infobox[edit]

I was just going through and adding Category:Cities in Romania to all the cities in List of cities in Romania (alphabetical) that were not in a good substitute category, and I noticed that nearly all of them use Template:Romanian cities infobox and thought it might just be more efficient to add the category there. Having a look at all the stuff that links there makes me think that this would not get anything extra. But I know that mass adding or removing categories can get people all in a fit so I thought I would ask what everyone here thought. If not I am using AutoWikiBrowser to make the changes so it will only take about an hour to sort though them all and also add county categories, but I think using the template is the right choice. Romanian entries in the English Wiktionary[edit]

This is Wikipedia, but all editors reading this notice are encouraged to go to the English Wiktionary (with or without an account) and start entries on any Romanian word that doesn't have an entry yet or improve/expand existing entries (see Category:Romanian language). For some practical advantages of this, see User talk:Bogdangiusca#Limba noastra. Alexander 007 08:27, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, I draw your attention to: the comprehensive-collection of-Romanian-words-in-Wiktionary project. Don't underestimate it! Contribute! Wiktionary is not as boring as it seems. Alexander 007 15:17, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New RfC against me[edit]

Good news for Jmabel, Node, and the like; Ronline, together with some other dudes, started a new RfC against me: RfC - Part II. They accuse me of making racist attacks, anti-gay remarks, and much more. I believe they aim to have me banned and this time, they might succeed, because they will be strong in numbers. I ask the people who are interested in following the current events, or who enjoy a good Wiki drama, to go there and read the arguments, and if willing - to support whatever side they believe in. If Ron and his fellows succeed in having me banned, then I hope you guys will continue to work on Ro articles and perhaps expand Battle of the Cosmin Forest and History of Moldavia, while watching over my favourite article, Battle of Vaslui. Sanatate! --Anittas 23:42, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, bogdan 16:41, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw, and I am "proud" to introduce yet another creation of Node_ue: The Wikipedia:Moldovan_Wikipedians' notice board. Dpotop 11:05, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but that creation has turned out to be quite a failure, seemed that a certain user overestimated the lure of the "Moldovan" identity. Anyway, the whole thing is quite old now, it was made not many days after Anittas created this noticeboard and was unable to capitalize on the momentum created by our board. One really shouldn't pay any attention to it. Anclation 18:55, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ro.wiki and en.wiki[edit]

I noticed that ro.wiki is far less developed than en.wiki even in Romania-related articles. This is not good situation in my eyes. It is unacceptable to read about pianist Dinu Lipatti in english-only. This is an appeal to all the Romanian contributors: Please! Every time you write an English article or stub, write the Romanian version too. Thanks. -Paul- 13:54, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
