GlobaLex

The article was deleted through Speedy Deletion because it was deemed to be promoting a company. GlobaLex is a resource used by legal researchers who research foreign, comparative, or international law. GlobaLex is a free database available to anyone. I created the GlobaLex article to assist law librarians, such as myself, in finding international law resources that are available. If this article cannot be undeleted, can you please userfy it so that I can make the necessary additions to it so that the GlobaLex article is more useful and does not violate policy. -Birdhousebirdy (talk) 04:28, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Not done. It's not surprising that the article seemed promotional because it was a straight copy of this, so for copyright reasons it cannot be restored, even into a sandbox. You need to write in your own words. I will give some advice on your talk page in a day or two, but meanwhile read WP:YFA and WP:BFAQ and note particularly that you need to establish WP:Notability by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." • You will need to add some references to keep this around. I restored this before, but due to lack of supporting references it got deleted again. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:00, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
  • (edit conflict) Done. This article was restored a year ago at your request (or that of someone on the same IP) but was deleted again after ten days because no references were supplied. I have reset the clock, but referencing of articles about living persons is essential, and the article will be deleted again if in ten days there has not been supplied at least one reference to a reliable source to confirm what it says. JohnCD (talk) 21:06, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Tomorrow's Company

I am quite new to wikipedia and that was the first page I have edited and I wasn't sure about the guidelines and I think I have now figured it out -Soniasingh27 (talk) 14:04, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Article was deleted because it seemed to exaggerate the importance of the article and also self-promote. I have drafted a new article which is neutral and factual with links to articles and other websites substantiating the facts.

Not done. Because the article was re-created after deletion, the title Tomorrow's Company was salted - protected so that an administrator's permission is required to create it. You cannot get around that by calling it Tomorrow's company with a lower-case "c". You will need to convince user DGG (talk), the administrator who salted the title, by showing him an acceptable draft. I have "userfied" your new version - moved it into a user sub-page at User:Soniasingh27/Tomorrow's Company where you can work on it. One problem is that, as it told you on your talk page, our automatic copyright-problem-detection system found rather a lot of phrases in common with the company's website. You need to rewrite more in your own words, and find references that are about the company from outside, which would count for much more than statements by the company or interviews with its people. For advice see WP:Your first article, WP:42, WP:FAQ/Organizations.
If you are the same person as user Clare500 (talk · contribs) who wrote the first versions three days ago, please choose one account and use only that one, to avoid suspicion of "sockpuppetry". If you are not, read her talk page - there is good advice from DGG at the bottom of it. JohnCD (talk) 20:11, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
It was created again in similar form, and I deleted it again. I decided not to create-protect, because I think a proper article could possibly be written about the organization, and I will advise the contributor how to go about it. I notice the user or someone closely connected is apparently also editing the article as Risonanze (talk · contribs). At this point, I think an explanation might work instead of blocking, but I will block if necessary. DGG ( talk ) 18:13, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Ric Dragon

This pages deletion is in error as the subject fits the criteria for notability: "credible and authoritative books." The subject was the author of two books on digital marketing published by McGraw Hill, a leading publisher of business books. -Rdquay (talk) 16:23, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Not done. I was puzzled where you got that phrase, but I see it is at WP:NRVE. I'm afraid you have misunderstood that; what it is saying is that coverage of a subject in credible and authoritative books counts towards notability, not having written them. The notability standard for authors is at WP:AUTHOR. Just having written a couple of books is not enough, but it is arguable that when they are published by a mainstream publisher like McGraw Hill that could be enough to avoid speedy deletion. So, if you like, I will undelete the article and send it to WP:Articles for deletion for the community's view, or alternatively I could userfy it for you - move it into a user sub-page where you can work on it. The only references at present are his own and his book's websites: to establish notability will require references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Let me know what you would like me to do. JohnCD (talk) 21:44, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

A sub-page sounds like the proper course - I know there are many articles reviewing and citing the subject's work. I'm struggling to understand the line where an author like, say Brian Solis or Dave Kerpen makes the cut, but Ric Dragon does not. Rdquay (talk) 15:28, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Not done. The article has been deleted, three times, and the reasons explained on your talk page: it does not give any indication that the organization is notable enough for an article, which would require showing significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. JizzaBella

I feel this page was removed due to reasoning that is unfair. JizzaBella is a drag queen from Rochester, NY, and has been all over the web, including FOX GoodDay LA, Featured on the RuPaul Drag Race Blog, she owns her own radio show with over 12,000 listeners, she is the manager of the #1 Madonna Impersonator in the world, who was on RuPaul Drag Race Season 3, she has also worked with the winner of Season 1, Bebe Zahara Benet, and so on. Her managing skills and performing has caught attention from countries all over, and has expanded her travels. She is worthy of an article, since not all Drag Queens are able to establish all of this. More interviews are in the works of being published with a journalist from huffingpost etc. I think this page should be restored. -67.247.91.166 (talk) 19:12, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles concerning people. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning people will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. By the way, doing a podcast with a few hundred fans does not equal "owns her own radio show", even if that was a qualification for notability (do you have any idea how many non-notable local radio DJs there are, working hard every shift?). --Orange Mike | Talk 19:44, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

  •  Not done Unfortunately, we can't restore the article as your company doesn't appear to currently meet our general notability guideline. You would need to find some mentions of it in reliable sources. However, editing an article about your own company is a conflict of interest, which is against our policies - you'll have to wait for someone else to successfully create the article. — Hex (❝?!❞) 22:06, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

The Lost Souls of Bell Valley (book)

My page was delete by user Fastily in December 2001. This user is no longer affialiated with W perhaps because of additional deletion issues.

The page WAS NOT a self-promotional effort on my part and I have multiple 3rd party references included.

Please consider a restoration of this page. If you look at my history, I have created several viable pages over the years and have felt I am a positive contributor to W.

Not done and will not be done By your own admission, you are the author of this self-published book (and of this shamelessly promotional "article", which lacked reliable sources and substantial coverage). Wikipedia is not a venue for self-promotion. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:30, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

You seem not to understand the distinction between a userpage, where an editor tells you something about her or his skills, beliefs and attitudes, in order to understand his/her edits better; and the content of Wikipedia articles, which must hold to our standards of reliability, verifiability, and neutral point of view, without conflict of interest. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:51, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

This page was very useful. Verizion FIOS has hundred of channels, many of which have three or four different incarnations (two standard def and a high def), as well as separate east and west coasts feeds. Neither the cable box interface nor anything on the FIOS website provides the easily searchable index that this page provided.

Not done and will not be done Wikipedia is not a directory service. A number of these articles are being removed, as grossly inappropriate to an encyclopedia. Cherries and Clover

Page was removed with a speedy PROD deletion on the claim that it is a "Non-notable film with little to no coverage" however the reason the film doesn't have MUCH coverage yet is because it hasn't yet been released, it is due for release later this year. Therefore the notability of the film is yet to be determined but it should be noted that articles have been written and at least 3 media outlets have conducted interviews with the film members due to its notable accomplishment of having been shot by an all teenage cast and crew and yet maintain an unusually high production value for an independent feature. Clips from some of these interviews can be seen in the Making Of Featurette available on the official website, www.cherriesandclover.com -75.84.218.248 (talk) 03:18, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Recreated article is currently at AfD. The version speedily deleted on 14 February 2011 may contain some useful text which could be incorporated into the current article, providing guidance for seeking sources contrtibuting to demonstrating notability of the subject. My request is for this to be restored to user space, in order to avoid conflict with the recreated article. Apologies if deletion review is the more appropriate forum, but WP:DEL#Undeletion "It should be used to appeal most instances of ... speedy deletion" seems to be ambiguous regarding CSDs when read in conjunction with this page and DELREV. Selena Rose is a popular pornographic actress and I created a Wikipedia article for her with reliable sources. I spent at least two hours working on that page but it was deleted within a few minutes after I saved it. There are pornographic actresses who are a lot less popular than Selena Rose and they have a Wikipedia page, so why was Selena Rose's page deleted?  Not done. From a look at that list , it is clear that being a "World Economic Forum Young Global Leader" is not enough for notability, and your two links just show that she contributes. What is really needed is independent comment about her, see WP:42. In any case, this was deleted after a deletion debate at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Liliana Gil so, as stated at the top of this page, it will not be undeleted here. Pexco, LLC

I am a newbie to Wikipedia and am writing to see if the possibility exists to either un-delete and userfy an article or incubate it as a user-space draft. The article was Pexco, LLC.

Since starting the article, I've engaged with contributors to learn more about what makes an article Wiki-worthy. The admin who deleted it disagreed with certain aspects of the article, and I now see he has some valid reasons for it. For instance, I see that sources was a concern and have since identified alternative reputable sources to most of the citations that seemed to be the ones in question.

Having a much better sense now of what makes a solid article, I am asking for the chance to make the necessary changes and properly address the concerns that were raised. Please let me know what might be possible. Wikipedia is certainly an interesting world, and I look forward to learning even more.

Thanks for the consideration. S harp44 (talk) -204.60.123.11 (talk) 18:46, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

I suspect that Fastily screwed up with edit comments. Alternatively, somewhere along the road a good page was replaced with a bad redirect and subsequently deleted. In any case, it appears that the truth may be learned only from deleted article histories. I'd like to have these articles restored in my user space, for investigation. Thanks, Staszek Lem (talk) 21:23, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Done. What a mess. Fastily's edit summaries were OK, it is your second guess that is right: after a lot of argument and a tangle of moves, someone redirected the article in June 2011 to a page which then or later was deleted, resulting in a chain of redirects ending in a red-link. Six months later, Fastily cleaned up that chain of redirects-to-non-existent page.
The actual content ended up in the history of Medieval Islamic sociology and I have userfied that for you to User:Staszek Lem/Medieval Islamic sociology and restored the last version that had content. The history, and the talk page, show a lot of argument about the content and may help you understand what went on. If you think of restoring it, you should probably consult with those involved; that may restart the arguments, but you'll get those anyway sooner or later. JohnCD (talk) 23:02, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Comment for anyone else interested: the reason why all this stuff was reduced to redirects and effectively deleted was that it was all based on OR and, worse, misrepresentation of sources by Jagged 85 (talk · contribs) who was eventually banned - for details, see WP:Requests for comment/Jagged 85 and its talk page.
