Music of Italy[edit]

The few people working on this article would appreciate any constructive criticism. Jeffmatt 14:54, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • At first glance, it looks excellent, FA standard. But why no Categories? Seabhcán 16:06, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I added Categories: Italian music | Arts in Italy | Italian culture Seabhcán 16:11, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for putting in categories. I was wondering the same thing! We just forgot, I guess.Jeffmatt 05:31, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • The musicbox could be extended with the sections "awards", "charts", "festivals", "media" and "national anthem" found in the most complete musicboxes. Circeus 18:28, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how to use that music box thing, though I wrote a short time line. I suppose we could move some of the info in the article to the music box, thus shortening the article, itself. Thank you for the suggestion.Jeffmatt 05:31, 10 March 2006 (UTC) (later: I just figured it out. Thanks again.)Jeffmatt 12:50, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • In the specific resolution/screensize/browser I used, the heading 16-18th centuries and the picture above it interfered. Perhaps putting the picture in a frame witht eh one above it might help - is there a way to clear and then start th enext section. I suspect a line break would do it as well. Not a big deal. The article is impressive. Midgley 16:52, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the comment. I'll have a look at it or try to find someone who can fix that.

It's really come a long way! Good job Jeffmatt. Some stuff that'll probably come up on FAC:
    • The charts and media section of the infobox need to be filled in (this page indicates charts are Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana; media should be a couple of music magazines, TV channels, etc).
    • The infobox has a lot of red links -- the regions may be forgivable, but the others should all be fixed. And is there anything else reasonable to add under the "folk music" section?
    • Any expansion to the "Characteristics" section possible?
    • Needs more citations. Every paragraph should be verifiable, meaning that specific sources should be cited with a footnote. For example, the "Before 1500" section makes some rather sweeping claims that should be cited.
    • The bullet points in the instruments section should go. They're paragraphs that can more or less stand on their own as is, and making them lists isn't helpful.
    • The "Music of the Mafia" section seems out of place, and doesn't really justify its inclusion. A subsection, two paragraphs and an image is an awful lot for a set of recent three albums, and it's not clear that the subject is actually an example of "folk music" at all. (It may be, but the album cover looks rather commercial for a compilation of actual folk music)
