On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the PRBB is organising this edit-a-thon to mark this day and try to increase the visibility of women in science.

The event will take place online on Thursday, February the 11th, 2021, from 5pm to 7pm CET.

The gender gap that exists in Wikipedia affects the perception of the role female figures have played in science. On this edit-a-thon, or wikimarathon, we will aim to work in both biographies of scientists and researchers, as well as articles on various scientific disciplines where women's contributions are not reflected enough. These can be published in any language and participants can either create, translate or improve articles.

This wikimarathon, the fifth at the PRBB, this year organized with the collaboration of Amical Wikimedia and the Catalan Association of Scientific Communication is open to everyone interested in gender issues in science, not only to the researchers at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park and other research centers in Barcelona and its surroundings.

It is supported by the Viquidones UPF workgroup, and therefore the learning and edits that start during the wikimarathon can find continuity in this permanent editing space that meets every Tuesday from 5 to 7pm at the UPF (now online).

In this fifth edition we join the campaign #NomoreMatildas, which aims to raise awareness about those women scientists that suffered exclusion during their careers because of Matilda effect.
