Wikipedia:GLAM/New Zealand Wikipedian at Large/November 2018 Report

At Archives NZ with Chief Archivist Richard Foy
Asaf Bartov's Wikidata Masterclass held at Dragonfly Data Science, Wellington, 23 November 2018

The highlight of the month was attending the Wikimedia Australia meetup in Melbourne with Siobhan Leachman (User:Ambrosia10): my report is here. Being able to discuss strategic planning and ways Wikipedians should engage with indigenous communities was extremely valuable, and it was a pleasure to have Asaf Bartov visit New Zealand for NDF and run an intermediate-level Wikidata workshop (his slides are here). Many thanks to the Wikimedia Foundation for making this possible.

The National Digital Forum this year seemed especially friendly to open knowledge, and both Asaf's and my presentations were well-received (video of his talk and of mine). The workshop on linked open data and tools was also valuable.

Both Archives New Zealand and BRANZ seem keen to pursue Wikipedia projects after the Wikipedian at Large project has ended.
