"Una furtiva lagrima" from Gaetano Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore Sung by Enrico Caruso in 1911 for the Victor Talking Machine Company.

The notable singer, the surprisingly accurate accompaniment raise this above any other recording I could find with an acceptable licence. Other recordings of this from this time period all had severe abuses against Donizetti's intent, ranging from the almost forgiveable substitution of a harp for pizzicato strings, to arco strings and worse.
