OriginalHorsehead Nebula (also known as Barnard 33 in emission nebula IC 434) is a dark nebula in the constellation Orion. The image is a frame mosaic taken with 5 different filters, standard Red – Green – Blue with details enhanced with narrowband data of Hydrogen (Ha) and Oxygen (OIII). The Ha was color mapped to Red and the OIII to teal. So it is a representative color image consisting of over 900 minutes of exposure time.
Reason
High quality and resolution non-NASA image.

  • Support: good overview of the nebula and surroundings. Could use more description of the image in the article, though. Adam Cuerden (talk) 14:56, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
 Done..How's now Herald 15:30, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You should probably say that it's a truecolour enhanced with representative Hydrogen and Oxygen spectra, and state the mappings to red and teal, much as in the caption here. Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:32, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
