Your deleted article[edit]

Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia!

I've looked over your concern. Although I would not have personally deleted your article in the speedy fashion that it was deleted, as it seems to me to have at least some assertion of notability as required to avoid criterion Article 7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, I can see why this happened. Wikipedia editors work constantly to prevent Wikipedia being filled with random biographies written by the subject or his/her friends, family, etc.; what you wrote has some features that would send off flags that this might be the case:

  • It seems to be a personal account, rather than having the tone one would expect of an encyclopedia article
  • It has a lot of vague but extremely positive language, while Wikipedia articles have a neutral point of view.
  • It is rather low on sources for its claims, and you seem to admit that such sources may not be available

I will help you, if you wish, to submit a request for review of the deletion at Wikipedia:Deletion review, and the deletion might be (temporarily) overturned on procedural grounds; however, I believe that in the form the article was in when it was deleted it would not ultimately survive. I propose instead that you spend some time getting aquainted with the some of the basic principles of Wikipedia and the usual guidelines for biographies, and then rewrite the biography based with a neutral point of view based on reliable sources if you still feel it is appropriate.

I appreciate your interest in contributing to Wikipedia and apologize for this small hurdle. Please feel free to contact me again if you have any further questions or concerns.

I can restore the old article and move it to your userspace if you'd like to fix it up there. If you like, once you've worked on it, I can look at you and tell you if I think it now fits within Wikipedia policy. -- SCZenz 20:28, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The old material is now at User:ZerendipT/Robert (Bob) Earll, where you can edit it. Please take not that I can't promise the article will be kept in the end; that depends not only on how it is written, but also on whether the community feels the person is sufficiently notable to appear in the encyclopedia. Reading WP:BIO will help you understand the latter. Let me know if you have any questions or need any more help. -- SCZenz 06:16, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
