A barnstar for you!

The Copyeditor's Barnstar
Thank you so much for the wording on Megadeth, you're a really cool guy. Definitely one of the few Wikipedians who puts great amount of work in articles that aren't his preferences. Вик Ретлхед (talk) 14:34, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Still on holiday?

Hey dude, long time no see. How's the Wiki holiday going? I saw that you edited some pages today, so I thought to give you a call. I've submitted an article for copyediting, and coincidentally, I noticed your name among the first volunteers at May's backlog elimination drive. It's another thrash band that needs additional pair of eyes; as soon as I'm done with Megadeth, I'm planning to take that one more seriously. But if you are still resting, there's no need to rush you. Best wishes.--Вик Ретлхед (talk) 22:02, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

REC 3: Genesis

I do not know if you do set that "Génesis" is a name, the official movie poster of an accent, regardless of the title it in English, I think the emphasis on the name must be respected, because the movie was made in Spain, not in America, so "Génesis" must carry accent.--Damián / talk 23:12, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

The poster of the movie in Spanish, an accent, so the name should carry accent.--Damián / talk 00:18, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Well whatever, I still think the name should carry accent, so this title in English, must be respected accents in names. And as I said before, the film was made in Spain, and it will put accent creators name.--Damián / talk 00:23, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Regarding IPhone 7 and other similar redirects...

I have an idea for this (salting similar titles), but I believe to accomplish this is a 2-discussion task, and the first requires creating a new speedy deletion criterion for redirects. Basically, the speedy deletion criteria would be about allowing titles that meets a specified format that the community agrees is unhelpful for encyclopedic purposes to be speedy deleted, as well as specify of they should be salted, as well as the criteria that must be met for the title to become unsalted (such as creating a valid draft for that title.) Step 2 would be to afterwards start a discussion to have certain "IPhone" titles to be speedy deleted (and salted) for this criterion. I'm not sure if the community would agree with this, but this is my thought in the matter ... since trying to salt a whole bunch of projected titles is tedious, but salting a redirect's title after it is deleted is not tedious. Username

Your username is a serious and blatant violation of the username policy, as it contains profanity. Please have it changed to something more appropriate. Regards, --AmaryllisGardener talk 05:09, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) If I can interject here, it says clearly on his userpage "I understand that under the wrong circumstances it can be misconstrued as offensive. It is nothing more than a joke about myself." It was also brought up at the usernames for administrator attention back in July, and it was declared okay there. Cheers, Supernerd11 Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 05:23, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
It's a username that contains profanity regardless of anything he puts on his userpage. But if it's been brought up before, and has been accepted by admins as not violating any policy , there's really nothing more I can do. --AmaryllisGardener talk 13:30, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
@Supernerd11 and Mfield: Looking in the block log, I see many usernames containing the word have been blocked for the username. And I really don't see why this one would be treated any different. Accounts blocked citing an inappropriate username include: (with the word replaced with "B******") "B******manOFFICIAL" citing "Inappropriate username", "B******bunny" citing "{{UsernameBlocked}}", "B******barted" citing "{{UsernameHardBlocked}}", "B******test" citing "Please read our our username policy and choose another name {{usernameblocked}}", "B******x53" citing "{{username}}", "B******z" citing "{{UsernameBlocked}}", "B******zGirl" citing "Please read our our username policy and choose another name {{usernameblocked}}", "B******29" citing "{{uw-ublock}}", "B****** (Hephaestos)" citing "{{UsernameBlock}}", "B******009" citing "Username", "B******-555" citing "{{usenameblock}}, "The B****** Child" citing "{{uw-softerblock}}", "The B******swordsman" citing "Please read our our username policy and choose another name", and many more. AFAIK there aren't any exceptions in the username policy that state that it's okay if you have a note on your userpage. I see it's been discussed before, but I just want to know why having profanity is okay in this case but not okay in the other cases (I know about the note). --AmaryllisGardener talk 15:45, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Hm, not sure why this is an exception. We'll have to wait and see what he says about his name. Supernerd11 Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 16:38, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

*sigh* This again?

I have already given justification for why my username is not blockable; namely, it is directed at myself by myself, it is not intended as a reference to anyone else. It's an example of my sense of humor, which I understand does go over some heads. The examples you cite also seem to infringe on other policies; for example, "B******manOFFICIAL" is uncomfortably close to a spam/advertising account (for which far more innocuous names have been blocked in the past; User:Witch Earthless was blocked after a single edit to create an article about a split single on which both artists recorded, but I had the article deleted per WP:PROD). Other names just seem to have it for the sake of having it, and that seems to indicate that those particular users are WP:NOTHERE to build an encyclopedia, rather to fool around. A careful look at my own editing history will demonstrate otherwise in my case. "Don't judge a book by its cover" is probably the lesson here, for anyone who considers my username disruptive.

All that being said, if WP:FLOW comes to pass, I am considering having my username changed to something that will hopefully be considered more appropriate. If/when FLOW ever happens, I'll have had my fun under my existing username. I understand that may not be good enough for you, but FLOW could come sooner or later, and as long as they have the kinks worked out, I don't see why we shouldn't have it (there has been some protest).

The note on my userpage was intended only to pre-empt discussions like these from happening again; this has been discussed before, and I don't see why the verdict should change. It's a bit late for an appeal.

In the end, know that I have no animosity towards you or anyone else on Wikipedia. I don't even care that you brought this up again. If I do something for which I could be banned or blocked, perhaps we can look at it again then. Till then, I'll continue to be a productive and happy member of this community.

LazyBastardGuy 16:39, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

I am the admin that responded to AmaryllisGardner's report on UAA yesterday and we had subsequent brief discussion on my talk page. To add to what was said there, Usernames, especially of long and good standing users, are not considered in a vacuum. Other users may have been immediately blocked with the word Bastard in their username, but those blockings were almost certainly of a new user or a new user whose contributions, taken together with the username, were indicative of a larger problem with that account. As I said, I wouldn't find the word Bastard particularly egregious, it's certainly less widely offensive than most of the terms that I would instablock for. But that is a decision for the community, and should be taken into consideration with the intent of the username, and with the number of real complaints it has generated vs the lifespan of the account. Mfield (Oi!) 17:04, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Since it is relevant, this is only the second time in my three years of having this account that it has been considered an issue. Again, I am strongly considering changing it in time for FLOW to come out, which I personally anticipate could be by the end of next year - plenty of time to avoid a third incident ;) LazyBastardGuy 17:12, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
