Your Fast LOL!!

My picture on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s page should be on the paragraph of 2014 instead '15 but I have no clue how to move it...in the same vein the pic I attached to Hendrick Motorsports of the pit crew member probably should be towards the bottom of the #24 "History" instead of on top of the "Rainbow Car". @Rob Street: Sorry for the delay, but noted. If you want to move the image, look for the sections titled (for example) ==2014== and move the picture down there. WikiCup 2015 March newsletter

That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. Forty-seven competitors move into this round (a bit shy of the expected 64), and we are roughly broken into eight groups of six. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups.

Twenty-two Good Articles were submitted, including three by Connecticut Cyclonebiskit (submissions), and two each by Denmark MPJ-DK (submissions), Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), Florida 12george1 (submissions), and New South Wales Cas Liber (submissions). Twenty-one Featured Pictures were claimed, including 17 by There's always time for skeletons Adam Cuerden (submissions) (the Round 1 high scorer). Thirty-one contestants saw their DYKs appear on the main page, with a commanding lead (28) by Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions). Twenty-nine participants conducted GA reviews with Lancashire J Milburn (submissions) completing nine.

Sword Art Online

Hey Zappa, would you mind if I made some changes (basically just content expansion) to User:ZappaOMati/Sinon (Sword Art Online) and User:ZappaOMati/Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization? Or I can just give you some sources, though I guess they're not too hard to find. Or I can just get lost, lol.

@Satellizer: Alright, I just finished up the Story section, and I think it looks pretty good. I've been tempted to write in the video game canon as an "In other media" subsection like you see in most other character articles, especially considering how different Sinon (and Leafa)'s stories are in those games compared to actual canon. WikiCup 2016 May newsletter

Round 2 is over and 35 competitors have moved on to Round 3.

Round 2 saw three FAs (two by New South Wales Cas Liber (submissions) and one by Montana Montanabw (submissions)), four Featured Lists (with three by England Calvin999 (submissions)), and 53 Good Articles (six by Lancashire Worm That Turned (submissions) and five each by Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions), and Denmark MPJ-DK (submissions)). Eleven Featured Pictures were promoted (six by There's always time for skeletons Adam Cuerden (submissions) and five by Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions)). One Featured Portal, Featured Topic and Good Topic were also promoted. The DYK base point total was 1,135. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) scored 265 base points, while British Empire The C of E (submissions) and Denmark MPJ-DK (submissions) each scored 150 base points. Eleven ITN were promoted and 131 Good Article Reviews were conducted with Denmark MPJ-DK (submissions) completing a staggering 61 reviews. Two contestants, Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and New South Wales Cas Liber (submissions), broke the 700 point mark for Round 2.

Question

I'm probably just letting my bias get in the way, but I'd say the Clippers. The Thunder's collapse was bad, but it was against a team that went 73–9. The fact that the Thunder was even able to win three games against such a dominant team is impressive, so it's not a surprise that the Warriors were able to win. Zappa24Mati 23:57, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, it's probably the Warriors now, especially considering how heavily favored they were entering the Finals. Momentum just shifted in Cleveland's favor starting with Game 3. I'm still optimistic for the future, regardless of whether or not Durant is resigned. It's just way too early to predict how the 2016–17 season would go, especially with free agency and the draft not having even started yet. Not many people expected the Thunder would even make it this far into the playoffs; I wouldn't really blame anyone for blowing that 3–1 lead, though. It's a team sport, and if there's anyone to blame, everyone gets a chunk of it. As I said, the Warriors are a great team, and they were bound to fight back. She's pretty far away, so I can't really say too much, to be honest, but I do see who you're referring to. Her, correct? Anyway, to answer your question about the Sharks, it hurts, but being it was the furthest the team's reached ever, I can't say I'm too disappointed. I've never been to a Sharks game before, unfortunately, and as for your last question... I'd say she probably felt the same way all Thunder fans felt: Like Sharks fans after they surrendered that 3–0 lead in the playoffs a few years ago, but slightly reduced since (as I mentioned) the Warriors were the best team in the league. Being I live in Warriors territory, I can't really say I hate the Warriors without getting crucified eventually, but it's more of a mutual dislike. I'd love to see Durant stay, but as I have learned, nothing is guaranteed. He'll stay if he wants to, and leave if he wants to. NFLisAwesome (ZappaOMati) 15:16, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Sharks lost against the Kings, and the rivalry between the two is usually a pretty heated one, so the Sharks winning the rematch in this year's playoffs was probably one of the sweetest moments. The Thunder/Warriors series definitely felt like the Packers/Seahawks game, though the Sharks/Kings one felt pretty similar as well. NFLisAwesome (ZappaOMati) 15:32, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Definitely, maybe even worse. It hurts to lose in the playoffs, but it hurts even more when you blow such a lead, and even worse when it's against a rival. I'd say the Thunder/Spurs series felt like the Redskins/Bears divisional round in 1986. As a whole, the Thunder's 2015–16 postseason felt like Washington's 1986 playoff record: Both teams won easily in the first round, upset a dominant team in the next, before losing to the top team in the league in the conference championship. @Narutolovehinata5 and Tintor2: Well, I'm not the only one who's added content to it. Satellizer's done most of the bulk work on the character articles so I think he can lend a better hand to the article. For anything that might need sourcing from the light novels and anime, I can provide them pretty easily since I have the Project Alicization novels and some friends who can probably help out there. The Settings section definitely needs expansion (or at least some sourcing since the settings were removed for a lack of them). I'll see if I can chip in some support as well. Invitation to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup

Greetings, all!

We would like to announce the start of the 4th GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Thus far, there have been three GA Cups, which were successful in reaching our goals of significantly reducing the traditionally long queue at GAN, so we're doing it again. Currently, there are over 400 nominations listed. We hope that we can again make an impact this time.

The 4th GA Cup will begin on November 1, 2016. Four rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on February 28, 2017), but this may change based on participant numbers. We may take a break in December for the holidays, depending on the results of a poll of our participants taken shortly after the competition begins. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same, as will the scoring.

Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on November 14, 2016. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now!

Chase Elliott's Darn Truck One-off

So... two of my edits got reverted, by experienced editors, who insist it was Hendrick, not JR or Contreras (this one and this one). While I want to believe them, at the same time, I think we need more proof than a couple of editors who insist "we saw the truck sitting in the shop." @Bcschneider53: What a mess. I know it's not JRM, but the truck is leased from the JRM shop. Other sources like Foxsports and the Wilson County News say Contreras. I believe the truck (and the team as a whole) had HMS equipment, but it ran under the Contreras banner. It's the same case as Josh Berry being listed as driving for Contreras at Chicago earlier this year even though it's JRM-built. NFLisAwesome (ZappaOMati) 17:51, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

The Challenge Series

The Challenge Series is a current drive on English Wikipedia to encourage article improvements and creations globally through a series of 50,000/10,000/1000 Challenges for different regions, countries and topics. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are invited to participate.

Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

New Page Review - newsletter

Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 814 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote

With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Noah Gragson incorrect photo

Hey...is there anyway that you can fix the main photo on Noah Gragson's page...that picture is not him. I added my photo from the LV Bullring this Spring that you can use in his "Media' Picture file but couldn't figure out how to replace the picture on the actual page. BBC 12-hour Editathon - large influx of new pages & drafts expected

New Page Reviewers are asked to be especially on the look out 08:00-20:00 UTC (that's local London time - check your USA and AUS times) on Thursday 8 December for new pages. WikiCup December newsletter: WikiCup 2017

On 1 January 2017, WikiCup 2017 (the 10th Annual WikiCup) will begin. This year we are trying something a little different – monetary prizes.

For the WC2017 the prizes will be as follows (amounts are based in US$ and will be awarded in the form of an online Amazon gift certificate):

  • First place – $200
  • Second & Third place – $50 each
  • Category prizes – $25 per category (which will be limited to FA, FL, FP, GA, and DYK for 2017). Winning a category prize does not require making it to the final round.

Note: Monetary prizes are a one-year experiment for 2017 and may or may not be continued in the future. In order to be eligible to receive any of the prizes above, the competing Wikipedia account must have a valid/active email address.

After two years as a WikiCup judge, Figureskatingfan is stepping down. We thank her for her contributions as a WikiCup judge. We are pleased to announce that our newest judge is two-time WikiCup champion Cwmhiraeth.
