Indiana Hoosiers football season articles[edit]

ZCash1104, thanks for your work here. A few things look out for...first, you've been adding anachronistic references to seasons like "1947 NCAA Division I-A football season" in the leads of these articles. NCAA Division I-A did not exist until 1978 and NCAA Division I did not exist until 1973. Second, in prose you want to spell out any numbers under ten, e.g. write "his first year as head coach", not "his 1st year as head coach". Also, in the schedule tables, you want to make use of Template:Cfb link to keep things up to date as other season articles are created. Also, the convention in the schedule tables is to display only the state code of the game site, not the entire state name. Indiana Hoosiers football season articles[edit]

As you can see, I've been working forward from the 1800s while you've been working backward from the modern era. There are now only 10 articles left. I've been doing this as part of the Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/Season articles campaign, hoping to complete as many teams as possible before the end of the year. Joel.Miles925 I actively try to get the attendance for all the games; however, when it gets into the games that were earlier than the 40's or 50's, attendance becomes difficult. Once I have all the entries finished for all of the Indiana years, I plan on going back and seeing if I can find not only attendance, but where I left off with finding the years of Homecoming, as well as updating the rosters for each year (using the present years roster template, for design purposes). Just one small request: When you add coordinates, please put them in the infobox. The field they go in is "coordinates". The line should look like this:

However, See also sections are not supposed to have links in them that are already in the article, like the town and the conference. Thanks. Don't worry. Section titles (headers)[edit]

Hi there, ZCash1104, just a heads up, when you're adding headers to articles, the only words that begin with capital letters are the first word and any proper nouns. So, the sections should be titled "See also" or "External links" not "See Also" or "External Links". I just went and fixed a bunch of them, and I noticed a couple of other editors had also fixed a bunch of them. Since I couldn't find anything on your talk page from others letting you know, I figured I better. No big deal, but for future use, the section titles should be in sentence case not title case per WP:HEAD. Cmr08 (talk) 08:53, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Flags in School Infoboxes[edit]

Hi ZCash1104 - I note you have been adding flag icons in the infoboxes of Schools' articles.
This is contrary to the general instructions at MOS:ICON#Avoid_flag_icons_in_infoboxes and also contrary to the infobox specific instructions at Template:Infobox school:-

Country - Country of the school (Do not use flag icons and wikilink – see WP:OVERLINK and WP:WPSCH for guidance.)

So, not only should there not be a flag, but "USA" should not be wiki-linked either - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 14:34, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Arjayay - Thanks for letting me know. I'll make sure that going forward to not do that and I will go back and check on all of the other schools that I've updated and remediate this issue.

@NearEMPTiness While I understand that the page may be deleted, if you look back through my history, I am systematically going through every high school in Indiana and either updating it or doing routine page maintenance. As Kouts High School was not created, I made sure to create the page and include the Infobox associated with its use. I believe it's more up to the students / faculty / staff / citizens near the school to update the page. But thank you for bringing it to my attention, nonetheless! Dont worry, I do not intend to request the deletion of this article, but want to encourage you to conduct a proper web search for anything notaable about this high school. I the German Wikipedia a lot of articles from pupils about there schools are being deleted due to a lack of notability, and I personally think that not every school of a certain state needs to be added to Wikipedia, unless there is something of interest to the community. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 18:22, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Naypta While I understand that the page (and Randolph Southern HS) may be deleted, if you look back through my history, I am systematically going through every high school in Indiana and either updating it or doing routine page maintenance. I personally believe it's up to the students / faculty / citizens of that area to fill in the information for that school, as they're more familiar with it. There should be a suitable timeframe given before nominating something for deletion especially as the article was made in good-faith - to include an Infobox. I notice that you're creating a lot of new articles and it looks like you know what you're doing, so having autopatrolled status would keep your articles out of the new unreviewed pages log. 950 TCU Horned Frogs football team[edit]

Hi ZCash1104 - I've reviewed the project page you named. I can see that the example given there uses state abbrevations. However, that choice is at no time mentioned or discussed. In fact, on the talk page, a revised layout was proposed which used the full state name, and no-one in the extensive discussion commented on that either. There's no particular benefit to using abbreviations, and no local consensus for or against them, so please stop reverting my contributions, which are in line with MoS guidelines preferring the full name unless there's a clear need to abbreviate. @Colonies Chris - I didn't go through every one of your other improvements yes; however, given that I've seen at least two of your edits of "TX" to "Texas", I can logically conclude that other edits would be similar. I've only reverted the edits that you've made to articles I've created/edited and not any other article in your contribution timeline. Regardless, the two aformentioned edits led me to site to you (on your second edit) the WikiProject College football/Yearly team pages format, Section 2, which clearly shows the correct template to be utilized. Sorry for the confusion! Someone else has already uploaded the image, and at this point I'm just worried about the outdated copy in the opening (three paragraphs) of the article. Specifically, the company structure has changed, the Fortune ranking is 3 years old, and the market capitalization is 2 years old. If you're not interested, no worries. After reviewing your suggestion about potentially making changes to the first three paragraphs, my recommendation is to just make the changes (with citing your sources, where applicable, of course). Since neither of us are the owner of the article (or are Wikipedia Admins), as long as your attempt has been made in good-faith and with sources, I see no reason why you couldn't go ahead and make those changes. Indiana citations[edit]

Citations which establish that a player achieved achieved some record in a game, season, or career do not ALSO establish that the player is the schools's all-time or current record holder for that statistic. Accordingly, all but 3 of the new citations have been removed as they fail verification.

Also, as you removed the "when" tag without resolving, I have added the qualifier text of "Records from the 1956 season through the 2018 season." which reflects the content of the three remaining citations (per S/R records).

Registration is now open for WikiConference North America 2022 (Nov. 11–13) held jointly with Mapping USA! If you would like to experience this virtual event in-person, you are welcome to join our meetup in Indianapolis! We will be meeting at IUPUI University Library for the weekend, with AV set up for conference streaming and presenting (for those who've submitted proposals).

Anyone is welcome to join, we will have some light refreshments and are planning evening activities. Feel free to join us for an activity, a day, or the whole weekend. Please let us know you are coming via the meetup page and please register for the conference. We will share more about in-person activities on the meetup page as they are finalized.
