DYK for Carlos Correa (baseball)

Thank you from the DYK team at English Wikipedia. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:12, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Reggie Jackson

Hi there, I see you reverted my edits without any summary/explanation. After viewing Template:Infobox MLB player, I don't see any issue with adding Jackson's career SOs. He is, after all, no. 1 on career SOs and believe his rate is worthy of being a listed stat in his info box. If there's something else more solid let me know, otherwise if you simply disagree, should probably be hashed out on the article's talk page unless you don't have a strong opinion then we can just include it. Zepppep (talk) 03:44, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

So we appear to have a difference of opinion as what would be considered an "important" stat for a player who did hit a lot of balls, but also whiffed a greater number of times than any player in history, and climbed that list roughly 25 years before the majority of players in the Top 10 (who would be considered contemporaries) when it wasn't considered "en vogue" to whiff whilst trying to hit a dinger. Shall we put it for a vote on the talk page? Zepppep (talk) 03:54, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello

I found this on your talk page and was wondering if I could remove it. It seems like it's vandalism. 71.146.10.213 (talk) 03:28, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Aonie

Hi Yankees10, I was wondering why you deleted my table for the Jim Abbott article. My table showed his career pitching stats, which is a very popular add-on to professional athlete's pages, and I spent time putting in this information on his page and you just deleted it for no reason. I just want to ask you why you took off information that benefited to the article and also the time I put into putting that up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aonie (talkcontribs) 22:09, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Redundant?

What was redundant about it? Is it not a career highlight? Zepppep (talk) 06:47, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

The 2,500 strikeouts is already in the career stats section. 2,500 K's isn't even a club anyway.--Yankees10 06:52, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
It's not an article but 2k is. There is no link for the article in the stats section as is. Zepppep (talk) 00:21, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Jon Matlack

I was wondering why you deleted stuff I posted in Jon Matlack's career "Awards and highlights" in his bio box? I posted stuff cited by baseball-reference.com. All of it was true, and he was the league leader in those statistics. Those statistics are considered to be of some importance. (talk)

It's great that you create these articles so quickly, most of the time before I've heard the transaction, but please be a little more careful with your work. You left the name "Brooks Lee Raley" in the lead. Also, it would be helpful if you could remember to create the article talk pages. I just created the talk page for Cody Allen a month after you created the main article. Thanks. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:52, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Roberto Clemente, an article that you may be interested in, has been nominated for a good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the good article reassessment page. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status will be removed from the article. Zepppep (talk) 23:15, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

I deprodded this because he's received a lot of coverage over several years, and there's enough editing history to make me think that straight deletion would not be uncontroversial and thus not appropriate under WP:PROD. For my own part, however, given the current state of things I'd probably be OK with a redirect to Barry Sanders#Personal life, where the relevant facts are already stated. That way it could get un-redirected later if appropriate. Best, --Arxiloxos (talk) 20:43, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Stem17

Excuse me Yankees10 im just wondering why you keep deleting my additions to Robin Yount's page, i just think people should know that he is the Milwaukee Brewers all time leader in hits and home runs, because its possible that Ryan Braun will beat both of them. So until then i think thatt people should know that Yount is the leader in those categories.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Stem17 (talkcontribs) 21:25, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

But lets be honest Yankees10 that not many people really want to stay and read the article, they just want to read the sandbox to see stats, playing history, and awards. So could i please just leave my contributions in the Sandbox? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stem17 (talkcontribs) 21:35, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

August 2012

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Robin Yount. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:42, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Linkable years in info box

I don't see any opposition at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball#Consecutive years in bio infobox; in fact, no comments at all for 2 weeks. If you feel consensus has changed, I would encourage you to open a new thread on the project page. I have edited the article so that each ASG is linkable in the "Highlights" subsection, per consensus. I can change it so the two bookend years in the info box aren't linkable. As far as listing and linking each ASG the player has, however, I don't see support for it. Zepppep (talk) 00:54, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Again there is no consensus there. A few people agreeing isn't consensus but whatever, too many silly little changes being made to the infobox nowadays anyway.--Yankees10 01:02, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
"No consensus" based on...? At the project page I see: "If it's in the prose, it's fine by me;" "Makes sense to me, but you might want to wait for consensus in Baseball proj" [posted on 16 Aug, as mentioned, no additional comments since then; not a single objection throughout the entire thread); "Yeah makes sense for me as well;" "How do we feel about cutting those things out?" [which was answered, and a question is merely that, not opposition). "A few people agreeing isn't consensus" is based on...? Consensus can be presumed to exist until voiced disagreement becomes evident per Wikipedia:Silence and consensus. If an editor doesn't chime in, their silence is their agreement. Albeit the weakest form of consensus, like I mentioned, there were multiple editors who chimed in with support—zero with opposition. I agree with you there is a lot of discussion about info boxes but it's high time for some firmness regarding the info boxes, so editors have something to point to in the instance of disagreement. The article Maximiliano Hernández has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a notable person

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Consensus

I didn't come by to accuse you. Instead, I came by to encourage you that if consensus is being quoted/noted by an editor, the best course for action would be to seek out the claim or to ask around. This would be more desirable than a revert. That was the purpose of my stopping by. If an editor with as good of a standing as you or I is throwing "consensus" around, my first assumption would be to believe it, not doubt it. IMO, WP works best when editors are working in concert, not conflict. Zepppep (talk) 16:14, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Why do you think this should have an accent? I checked before doing the requested move: all three of the article's references, and all the first page of Google hits have him as "Marte" with no accent. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:16, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Sources don't use the accents. I am going off others with the same last name (Starling Marté, Andy Marté, Damaso Marté, etc.)--Yankees10 22:28, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
I think we should follow WP:COMMONNAME: "Wikipedia... prefers to use the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources. This includes usage in the sources used as references for the article." I don't care enough to change it back, but if anyone else queries it, that would be my opinion. Section Heading

Hi Yankees. Hope all has been well. Minor point, but you deleted from a header at Gabe Carimi " All-American and Outland Trophy" w/the edit summary of "don't need it." That's correct. We don't. But on the articles I've brought to GA, I've been told that additions of that sort are felt to improve the article. It's succinct and informative, and consistent with that direction, so my view is its better to restore it. It certainly doesn't seem to be causing such a degree of harm that one need feel impelled to delete it, IMHO, even if one weren't to share the reviewers' view as to such heading amplification.--Epeefleche (talk) 01:16, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kidd Kidd requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. STATic message me! 20:46, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

Greetings, Yankees. I saw that you reverted several of User:MiamiDolphins3's edits to the infoboxes for NFL players. I left a message for MiamiDolphins3 on his talk page, explaining that it is the consensus of WP:NFL and standard formatting to link to the player's college football team, not the player's university, in the infobox. Hopefully, that will put a stop to that. I would be grateful if you would follow up and revert the similar changes he made to several other NFL player articles: [1]. Thanks. I thought we had resolved all of those issues last year, but I guess the order of the honors and awards was left open then. I was hoping never to see another talk page argument on that point. Hopefully, those issues have now been resolved for both MLB and the NFL infoboxes. Although, to my recollection, no one has ever raised the issue of the order for NFL infobox honors, I think it's pretty clear from the examples on the template page. Brian Orakpo

Hello. I'd like to ask why you decided to remove the mention of the Geico commercials calling Brian Orakpo an "All-Pro linebacker" despite him never being named to an All-Pro team. Pro Bowls are not the same as All-Pro, and an inaccurate commercial is certainly relevant now that the door of having an Endorsements section has been opened. Thanks. Me & my shadow

Regardless of whether or not there is a consensus to say that World Series Championships come before All-Star nods in an infobox, there is no consensus for the reversed, either. I'm doing a real edit; I'm not just surfing wikipedia looking for infoboxes I can put in the order I like.

...and you say you DON'T shadow me? --J.S.

Rather than continuously deleting this comment, I'd like it if you answered the question. This is the sort of thing you do to me frequently, and has always gotten on my nerves about you. Frankie Crosetti, Rupert Jones, George Foster. I can give more examples if I thought about it. I really wish you would stop. --J.S.
Are you ever going to acknowledge me? I'm tired of these stupid little edit wars you continuously initiate with me. I like doing what I do. I don't need someone like you following me and annoying me. --J.S.

When the source states, "According to league source", or "very likely to sign" well it is still a rumor and far from anything from team confirmed, I agree MLB and NFL free agency standards are different, but just wait from a team source, not the rumor mills, I already seen a number of false positives so far that is being reported in the media. So you revert an edit, stating that it is not the place. Since when? That's a lowball explanation. Wily Peralta lead

Hi Yankees10 - I saw that you edited the lead for Wily Peralta and thought I would ask you about it. I felt like the assertions removed from the lead (one of the fastest fastballs among MLB starters and early control problems) were two of the most important aspects of the subject. The way I understand WP:LEAD to read, that makes them worthy of inclusion in the lead. Though I've been around for a little bit, I still run across new rules and exceptions, so I thought I would get your perspective on it. Thanks! EricEnfermero Howdy! 06:26, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

In my opinion I wouldn't consider the control problems really that important enough for the intro. Looking at his stats, it also looks like that was a little overstated and there was no reference on the article to support the statement anyway. I think I agree about the fastball inclusion if a reference can be found.--Yankees10 16:58, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
Fair enough. I've begun to beef up the leads of a lot of MLB articles, so I just wanted to make sure that I had a good understanding. I'll see what I can find as far as sources. Thanks! EricEnfermero Howdy! 05:17, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dominic Smith (baseball) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. - Vivvt (Talk) 16:20, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Infobox Highlights

Hello. I was curious if there was any standard for infobox highlights. I don't recall one ever being established by the WP:BASEBALL community. To me a record is a record, so having it highlighted seems worthwhile. Is there any reason for a record not to be included? Arnabdas (talk) 20:15, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I saw that you reverted some of my changes adding this stat to the infobox. I know that shutouts are not part of the triple crown, but I know that it is possible to have numerous stats in the infobox and all the the changes that I saw you revert were among the career leaders for that statistic. I'm not going to get into an edit war with you, but the section clearly exists - I've now pulled it up twice (Category:Athletes from Minnesota) so I'm not sure why you are saying that you are seeing it as red. As I said in my revert comment, Nagurski is the only one on the list, but if you take Steinbach off the whole Cat should probably be deleted. Up to you, but I don't see any reason to strike it... Get off your Fielding Bible Award rampage.

Point me to any rule, policy or suggestion stating that only "official MLB awards" can be listed in a baseball player's "Career Highlights and Awards" section of their infobox. Then note that this has never been the practice, as a glance at the articles for Jason Heyward, Brendan Ryan, or Curtis Granderson will disclose. Then recall that many "official" awards aren't official at all; the vaunted MVP award has been sponsored and awarded by the BBWAA for decades. Then kindly stop deleting relevant, useful information from player pages. SS451 (talk) 13:38, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

The article Jay Jackson (baseball) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable minor league baseball player

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Any reason for your undoing my revision?

1. I modeled the section exactly like it appears for other QB like Johnny Football 2. I checked the viewing history, and both articles have shown me that they where started by your account. You may not be to blame for their deletion, but you've put a few of my articles up for deletion before (Yawin Smallwood, Gabe Ikard etc.) so it's just a hunch. Minor league player articles

Sorry about that...it's almost 2 AM

The players I'm listing have all logged considerable time at Triple-A and will likely reach the major leagues within the next couple seasons. Alex (talk) 06:35, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Career Triple-A players more often than not reach the major leagues at some point (see Brock Peterson, Tommy Watkins, Matt Macri and J.C. Boscan for examples), if only for a late-season token promotion. I don't see the harm in keeping his entry on that page for the time being, at least. Alex (talk) 16:45, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Realistically, I don't have a ton of minor league entries to add. Each of the players I have on tap spent time in Triple-A in 2013, were among the league leaders in at least one positive, major statistical category and are obviously currently in an organization's system. Though a few are of the geriatric variety like Overbeck, many are still 'prospect age.' I'm not just adding guys willy-nilly, as these are all players who I believe have a realistic shot at reaching the major leagues in the future. Alex (talk) 00:30, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

What harm does it do? Those pages are compendia of information on lesser-known players who do not yet have enough behind them to merit their own articles. No one is negatively affected by these inclusions. If they make the major leagues, then that information is transferred to its own page and all is well and good. If they don't and get released, the information is removed. Nothing is being hurt by having those guys - especially the older ones, who if they don't make it to the major leagues, will likely quit sooner rather than later - covered. I think some of us are trying too hard to maintain some sort of sanctity of those pages, while in my view there is no harm at all in having entries on the minor leaguers. Alex (talk) 02:53, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

I don't mind the idea of having a standard, but it should be enumerated somewhere. Our standards are quite different, obviously. Alex (talk) 06:40, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Matt Adams

Matt Adams shoved a fan while playing baseball he missed a foul ball. in return the fan flipped him the bird it was notable because it has to do with baseball. here is the source and you can find news reports on what happened. the fan was fresh out of knee surgery but Adams was unaware so he didn't hold it against him. It happened at the Cardinals Reds game on April 3. Its gonna get remembered the fan flipped him the bird and it was a baseball game. If people don't forget in a few weeks put it back. I did not watch the game but I for one thought it was a bad ass moment.

O.K. I read WP:ATHLETE, (which you also didn't wikified on the tag) and I guess baseball is different from any other sports (like, minor leagues are not the main inclusion criteria). However, isn't competition is the main reason for inclusion? Commas

Hello.

I see that we don't agree on the commas issue in the baseball player infobox. I'm not going to change the article again, because I think the problem is with the infobox.

First, it has separate parameters for debutyear and debutdate, which is totally unnecessary. The date and year can be passed in a single parameter. See for instance parameter birth_date, which is a single parameter. The same goes for the parameter pair finalyear and finaldate.

Second, because of the separate parameters, the template has to choose a date format for presentation. It currently chooses the mdy format (I assume this is hard-coded), which is sensible, considering that most baseball is played within the US.

But better yet, if there was a single parameter, the date could be passed in the format of choice for the article, instead of "forcing" mdy dates to non-US baseball biographies, such as Cuban, Japanese, British ones, etc. This one-off change for all baseball articles that contain the infobox could be done by a bot (initially assuming the mdy format in the new, single parameter).

What do you think? Wouldn't this be a major improvement?

Regards

HandsomeFella (talk) 16:25, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

(moving your answer here to keep the dialogue in one place)
Any changes would probably be best discussed at infoboxes talk page, but in regards to changing the formats of the date i'd prefer we just left it the US style. Although there are players from Cuba, Japan, etc, Major League Baseball is still a US-based league so I believe the mdy format would be best used. Others may disagree though.--Yankees10 16:43, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
Allright, the MLB infobox is obviously US-based, missed that. Still think it serves no purpose to have separate fields, but it would also be pointless now to change it, as it needs no such flexibility.
But the infobox needs to comply with WP:Copyedit. The commas are not optional, at least that's my impression.
HandsomeFella (talk) 19:37, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
I honestly wouldn't mind if the commas were added to the infobox. I just think there would need to be a discussion since I know that there are users that are opposed to them.--Yankees10 19:42, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
I just had a better idea (I think). See the template talkpage.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Hey. How come you don't remove Derek Jeter's Runs listed (or anybody else's on Wiki) and he isn't 1st or 2nd (only 11th) in that category or at some arbitrary level? I know, because he is a YANKEE, and you arbitrarily allow that because it glorifies him and your rooting team. How about a little consistency here, hmmmm? Your recent editing history at Johnny Damon shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Michael Greiner 00:16, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

The article Kidd Kidd has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. Fails WP:MUSIC.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. bitey

It is moderately bitey, in my opinion, to revert a new user's obviously good faith contribution (not even using the "revert good faith edits ..." feature of Twinkle) and then leave no message to them welcoming them and/or explaining why. If, in the future, you wouldn't mind at least giving a welcome template to good faith newbies whose edits you revert, I would appreciate it. Thanks, and happy editing. first round picks dont automatically get articles

Why do you insist on having stand alone articles on EVERY first round pick? Thats insane.. half of these guys will never make the majors. You wind up with all these stubby articles on high school kids that bomb out in the rookie leagues.. Every player has these sort of pre-draft articles. These guys belong on the team pages not with stand alone articles. Spanneraol (talk) 13:08, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Jurickson Profar Deletion

I am having trouble finding a link about when an article should be deleted. I keep getting links that link me back to the previous page. I cannot make useful suggestions on his page unless I find a link for it. Without knowing much about the deletion process, I think that the page should stay since he is in the major leagues, and I do not find many major league players without pages. However, if the basis of deletion is solid, it should be deleted. Joey Gallo (talk) 01:38, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Maurice Alexander (American football) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Hi NYY #10. Thanks for the suggest about the redirect page. I moved ST to his own page (please see). MusiCitizen (talk) 13:08, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi Yankees10, I see that you have reverted my edits for both of these articles. When you read through WP:LAYIM, the style guide clearly indicates images should not be excessive based upon the size of the article & its sections. These additional images do not provide any further value to either article, but instead clutter the article. There is no reason for images to appear in the References section of an article.

While it is not the norm for articles about athletes, an image gallery section could be created for Starlin Castro if you still really want the images to be used on the page. User:cubbie15fan talk, 09 July 2014, 15:21 (UTC)

  • Where is the value for these additional images? Have you read through this WP:LAYIM? Images should not appear in the References/External Links sections of an article. You do not control the content of the articles, even if you created the Starlin Castro page. The style guide provides an objective outline of how images should appear in an article.
  • You have not provided any objective reasoning as to why the images should remain as they are, other than you disagree with me. Subjective feelings do not merit reverting an edit. User:cubbie15fan talk, 09 July 2014, 17:26 (UTC)

Why do you not believe WP:LAYIM is violated by the "Castro on the road in St.Louis, 2014" image on the left side of the article?

Please Assume Good Faith, I am just trying to be direct in this conversation. I did not mean to come off as attacking you. User:cubbie15fan talk 09 July 2014, 18:13 (UTC)

Thanks for explaining why. I agree with your point, and made the changes. User:cubbie15fan talk 09 July 2014, 18:44 (UTC)

Willie Montanez

That opening paragraph was just unbelievable for Wikipedia. Unreferenced, NPOV and living biography violations, and maybe most of all- The paragraph had been there for 6 years!

I got around fixing baseball articles and putting in references. That's how I found it. I've been doing Atlanta Braves from 1977. An Sci-Fi ebook that I'm writing has a MLB first baseman 20 years from now called 'Guillermo Montanez'. No relation, I just used the name. Its not an uncommon one.

Another Guillermo Montanez who plays first. You say that's hard to believe. But this is Sci-Fi. My story also has-

1 Women golfers playing Muirfield. 2 The Chicago Cubs going to the World Series in 2025 (and losing) 3 A spacecraft crashing in Kansas. 4 A woman knuckleball pitcher making it to the majors.

Die hard baseball fans might say the Cubs going to the WS is the hardest to believe. Cheers!...William 01:14, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Brian Natkin infobox (?)

Hey, Y10. Brian Natkin needs an infobox -- should we use the college football player or college coach infobox template? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 01:37, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

BTW, there is an article creation opportunity for J. T. Thatcher, who was a consensus All-American safety for Oklahoma in 2000. Apparently, he did not have an NFL career, otherwise someone presumably would have created an article for him already. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 02:00, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

An MLB record it's not a career highlight?. It's not just catching no-hitters, the four caught by Varitek are an MLB record, not just catching no-hitters. That's a career highlight! an MLB record! Nolan Ryan's page: career highlights: MLB RECORDS: 5,714 strikeouts, 7 career no-hitters. I don't see career strikeouts in Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball/Player style advice as one of the items "we usually add to infoboxes", so according to that should we erase that 5,714 strikeouts as a carrer highlight?. Sorry for a mess, but I tried to update statistics for the above article and they suddenly moved from their original spot. Can you fix it, please? Like, I tried everything and they still remain at the bottom. Plus I have provided ESPN ref but the ref 7b won't show up for some unknown to me reason. Wondering what am I doing wrong here? Many thanks in advance.--Mishae (talk) 16:08, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Fixed.--Yankees10 17:05, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Also, should I use ESPN or ESPN.com when it comes to refs because as you can see they are a bit different? The reason is is that ESPN is probably will be publisher while ESPN.com is a website and either parameters can be used but I am confused which one is preferred in such cases?--Mishae (talk) 17:39, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
I think i'd go with ESPN.com--Yankees10 18:00, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Vernon Hargreaves (III)

Hey, Y10, got a questions for you: do reliable sources normally refer to Florida football player Vernon Hargreaves as "Vernon Hargreaves, III"? If not, does WP:COMMONNAME not apply? I have not spent a lot of time with this article, because I normally don't put a lot of effort into them until I'm confident of the subject player's notability. It's quite common to redirect names of minor leaguers to articles on their contractors' minor league systems. If he's moved to a different system, we should retarget it. If he's no longer playing at all, we should put the target at the best place for him to be mentioned, or we should take it to WP:RFD to have it deleted, but prodding isn't the right course. There is no rule against removing PRODs if one has a viable reason to do so. My reason is viable. There is no consensus in PRODs and Wikipedia is intended to be consensus driven. Alex (talk) 04:51, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry you feel that way. Many of the players getting PRODded (and AfDed) en masse do actually pass WP:GNG. Removing these PRODs allows more eyes to review the article and its case for deletion. This allows more people to find potential sources and to improve these articles so they do pass GNG. The individual prodding all these articles isn't even listing them on the Baseball deletion sorting page as a courtesy to other members. Rather, it seems as if the individual is attempting to keep the PRODs as secretive as possible so others cannot review them, allowing the articles to get deleted an wither away. That's not how Wikipedia is supposed to function. Let's add knowledge, not delete it. I am not acting in a way to anger people, people are allowing themselves to get angered. I do not follow the groupthink of the vocal cabal of baseball editors and its triumvirate of leaders (muyaspa). That groupthink does more harm than good. Alex (talk) 05:07, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Football players who also ran track

Thank you for this: [9]. The separate headers for one and two-sentence "track and field" subsections under "early years" or "college career" are completely unnecessary and drive me crazy. I routinely delete section headers and paragraph breaks for one-sentence paragraphs. The same IP is doing this for all NFL football players who ran track in high school or college, and it usually does not merit more than a one-sentence mention -- except for the rare player who was also an NCAA champion or Olympian. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 21:18, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Yeah it's really annoying. All this track info is just totally unnecessary. A mention of running track in school is fine and mentioning any competition wins, but the "personal bests" and whatnot is just too much.--Yankees10 21:31, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Duplicate articles

When you found the more recently created (but better) Todd Davis (American football) and the older Todd Davis (linebacker) and redirected the old title to the newer one, I think it would have been more correct to use the WP:FMERGE merge process to merge the newer article into the existing one, so that the article history is preserved as having been started on 14 Nov by Victorsmesq (and then perhaps rename the article to the newer, better, title). Or even do the formal merge in the other direction, as the procedure includes making links to the previous version so the history is preserved. As it stands, you've made it look as if the article was first added to the encyclopedia yesterday, 24 Nov. It might matter, sometime, to someone, to have the record correct. Thanks. Shawn Oakman

The article didn't give a shred of evidence for importance, since it didn't even mention anything other than being a college football player. Most D1 college football players will never be notable, and many of the exceptions will become notable for reasons completely unrelated to football; we thus can't take "he plays college football" as a claim of importance. This article didn't give any evidence of notability, either; it just had routine news stories, which being primary sources, don't contribute to making someone notable. Nyttend (talk) 00:54, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

I already told you that this article completely lacked secondary sources, that it had absolutely nothing suggesting that he passes the notability standards. I'm willing to undelete if you can provide secondary sources, but please remember what WP:BASIC says, Primary sources may be used to support content in an article, but they do not contribute toward proving the notability of a subject. Nyttend (talk) 01:03, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Please listen to what I said. Secondary sources are required, and the article had a bunch of primary sources but nothing secondary. Administrators routinely delete articles that demonstrate neither importance nor notability. Nyttend (talk) 01:15, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Analysis of all sources that you gave me, although slightly out of order:
  1. [12] is based on an interview with the guy, and it's reporting what he's up to.
  2. [13] likewise is based on an interview and here to report the news.
  3. [14] talks about events that are just happening, the guy's rising prominence in the scouts' eyes.
  4. [15] is an opinion column.
  5. [16] is pretty much all based on an interview.
  6. [17] is pretty much all based on an interview.
  7. [18] is pretty much all based on an interview
  8. [19] is pretty much all based on an interview
  9. [20] is pretty much all based on an interview
Interviews are primary sources, and when the interviewer's talking about his impressions of the interview and interviewee, the resulting article is likewise a primary source. A news story is a primary source for the event in question, since the reporting of the news is part of the historic context surrounding the event: it's part of the same event, same context as the one in which its subject is involved, so it's not secondary. Secondary sources are those that build on primary sources, e.g. a later source analysing the interviews, written by someone who uses the interviews (and potentially other relevant documents) and who's detached from the scene, or a later source who goes through PSU-produced documents, Baylor-produced documents, news reports, etc. to compile an overview of the situation and analyse the original documents. Obviously it's possible to demonstrate notability through ways other than raw sources; an NFL player with this kind of sourcing wouldn't warrant deletion, since the news stories are quite enough to establish that he would pass WP:ATHLETE, and a US state legislator needs only the news stories to establish the fact that he's qualified for WP:POLITICIAN. The difference here is that most college football players aren't even important, that this some news coverage is routine for college football players, and that his actions don't make him inherently notable, unlike the NFL players and the US state legislators. Nyttend (talk) 01:40, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
My last message was left before I saw your last message; that's why I ignored it. Almost no current college football players are notable simply through WP:GNG; they gain notability by doing notable things (WP:ANYBIO), e.g. becoming MVPs for major events or getting awards listed at {{College football award navbox}}. Nyttend (talk) 01:58, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Of course someone qualifies for an article if he has enough coverage to pass GNG. Let me repeat for the final time: this guy has no evidence of secondary source coverage, no coverage that's completely independent of him. Please familiarise yourself with the concepts of primary sources and secondary sources, or please begin providing me with some secondary sources, before continuing to assert that he has any secondary-source coverage. Nyttend (talk) 02:10, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

  • Thanks for your comments, Y10. What other WP:NFL regulars should we be seeking input at the early stages. I'll ping Eagles247, who was instrumental in the evolution of the current version of the template, but most of the formerly influential WP:NFL leaders seem to have have faded in the last couple of the years. I know who the half dozen influential WP:CFB editors are, but WP:NFL seems to be in the grip of the newbies as of late . . . . Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 21:01, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

Infobox NFL player: current parameters

Y10, I saw that you're adding hidden versions of the infobox template to college player bios in preparation for the 2015 NFL Draft: [24]. I note that you are still using deprecated versions of one or more field/parameter names, specifically:

  • "currentpositionplain" and "currentposition" should no longer be used, and should be replaced with "position" in all instances;
  • "currentnumber" should no longer be used, and should be replaced with "number" in all instances.

Having consolidated these redundant parameters, we would not like to perpetuate the deprecated parameter/field names by incorporating them into the new 2015 players bios. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 17:24, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

@Dirtlawyer1: Ok thanks for letting me know.--Yankees10 17:38, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, sir. You're a scholar and gentleman. FYI, more discussion coming in the next 60 days regarding ways to shorten/simplify Infobox NFL player -- trying to get Infobox college football player squared away first, then move on to Infobox NFL player. If you have any comments, complaints, suggestions, etc., regarding the NFL infobox, please let me know. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 17:49, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Interested in creating some college basketball player articles?

Hi Yankees10 – I know that you create a lot of athlete articles so I wanted to see if you were interested in creating some college basketball player articles. In the runup to awards season in March, there are many likely All-Americans, Conference Players of the Year and NBA draft picks who do not have articles yet meet WP:GNG. I have a starter list on my user page that includes finalists for the Wooden and Naismith awards as well as some others. It certainly isn't a complete list. I wanted to see if you'd be willing to help create some so that when awards are named or draft picks made these guys are not redlinks. I usually create a lot of these but would love some help. Understand if you have other stuff you'd rather work on, but thought I'd ask. Rikster2 (talk) 15:38, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

@Rikster2: Sure i'll check them out. I don't create basketball players as much as baseball and football but i'll definitely take a look.--Yankees10 19:17, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

I think we might have a differing view of what sources are. For instance in Sidney DeWayne, Marisol Malaret, and Luke Tarsitano. An external link to IMDB is simply not an RS. I could be completley wrong on this but that seems to be what I understand JBH (talk) 00:03, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Why do you look for the most obscure lower level minor leaguers to add to the minor legaue player pages? Bellenger & Rhame? They arent even among the teams top prospects... a little earlier for these guys.. minor league page is starting to get over crowded. Spanneraol (talk) 23:22, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

@Spanneraol: Sure there not top top prospects but they are among the Dodgers top 25 according to MLB.com. We add players who come close to passing GNG not guys based solely on prospect status anways. Rhame already has a fair amount of coverage. He's also a relief pitcher who could fly through the system, so what level he's at doesn't really matter. Bellinger is iffy but he's got some coverage and he's one of the youngest players in his league. I'm sure more coverage will come. If you think it's getting too crowded, get rid of the scrubs like Blake Smith, Josh Ravin, Tyler Ogle or Jon Garcia.--Yankees10 23:54, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
Those guys are all at AA or AAA except Ogle who Alex added. Smith's a high draft pick who is currently the closer for Tulsa. It just seems like you randomly pick names out of a hat and add them to these pages without any real reason. Spanneraol (talk) 00:44, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
@Spanneraol: Not at all actually. I try to pick guys that are considered among the teams better prospects, therefore are more likely to make the majors. I don't get what your deal is.--Yankees10 00:59, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Angelo Blackson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. AusLondonder (talk) 16:19, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Please stop creating articles for 2015 draft class players

There is no precedent establishing that being drafted by an NFL team is an indication of notability. The existing notability guideline (WP:NGRIDIRON) states that only players who have played in a regular- or postseason game in the NFL are automatically notable due to their status as an NFL player. The articles you are creating today are for individuals whose notability was not established in college (hence the lack of an existing article) and has not yet been established in the NFL.  — TORTOISEWRATH 17:50, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

@TortoiseWrath: WP:GNG outweighs WP:NGRIDIRON. Being drafted in the top 4 rounds means the coverage is almost certainly there to pass GNG. Most probably already pass GNG without the draft pick.--Yankees10 17:54, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

AfDs for newly drafted/signed NFL players

  • Y10, if you encounter more AfDs on point for college football players who are newly drafted/signed in the NFL, I would appreciate being pinged immediately. As you know, I work with CFB and NFL notability on a regular basis -- I understand the interplay of WP:COLLATH, WP:NGRIDIRON and WP:GNG, and I am familiar with the AfD precedents on point. About Cedric Thompson

Hi Yankees10,
I can see that there was an article about a [[Canadian Football] player called "Cedric Thompson". That was the one deleted at the AfD.
I see why I got confused now.
I'm a fan of at least eight kinds of of football, and probably more

And so on.

Taylor Kelly was not signed by the Arizona Cardinals, making him a free agent. His high school track times are incorrect, and the changes made are properly cited. The article Justin Brown (wide receiver) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

unreferenced for several months

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. A tag has been placed on Justin Brown (wide receiver) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.

Willy Taveras, Scott Maine

Hey what should I do with the article Willy Taveras he is currently on the Sugar Land Skeeters roster and also on the Reserve status for the Pericos de Puebla and Scott Maine is on both active rosters for the Bridgeport Bluefish and the Vaqueros Laguna what should I list their team as? Kingryan227 (DecreesActs) 18:25, 29 May 2015 (UTC)Kingryan227 (Decrees • Acts)

  • @Kingryan227: Since Taveras is on the active roster on Suger Land i'd use that for him. With Maine I'd leave it with Bridgeport since it appears he just pitched for them a few days ago.--Yankees10 18:32, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Would you please take a look at the above article. I came across it looking a new pages. I do not know enough about American Football to do anything with the article. I do not know if the subject has any notability as a TV broadcaster as the article claims but he was an NFL player so he passes notability with that. Thank you. JbhTalk 13:30, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

  • @Jbhunley: Taking a quick look, it doesn't appear he's notable to me. I don't see anybody with that name on Pro-Football-Reference.com so it doesn't look like he actually played in an NFL game. Coverage also is also lacking. I don't think he's notable.-Yankees10 17:14, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Roberts' 1-game stint

I see that you have been removing Roberts from Template:San Diego Padres managers. FWIW, Bob Skinner is on there though he only manager one game. However it's done, it should at least be consistent. Is there some project consensus on what the minimum number games is to be on these things?—Bagumba (talk) 01:44, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

@Bagumba: Interesting. He's also on the Padres website. So maybe Roberts should be on there.--Yankees10 01:48, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
FYI. Baseball Reference is counting Roberts one game as a manager [25].. and the game has to be credited to someones ledger... he really should be listed there. Spanneraol (talk) 03:18, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Brandon Hyde is a similar situation and he's on the Marlins template so i'll re-add Roberts.--Yankees10 03:35, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Associated Press. All-Star Clemente Wins MVP Award. The Michigan Daily. July 12, 1961.

Granted, I probably should've remembered sooner the plethora of related articles I've read over the years w/o ever having encountered even the mention of an MVP award (or, for that matter, noticed the corresponding absence within the text of this article); instead, I fell under the sway of some once-upon-a-time enterprising Michigan University undergraduate's undeniably creative copy editing. And, in the liberally paraphrased words of Rob Reiner's mom: don't know what that individual was smoking, but I want some! In fairness to Ann Arbour's finest, however, it should be noted that the AP stringer appears to have been a tad distracted as well, confusing RC's relatively routine fourth-inning sac fly to Maris with his very loud 6th-inning out to Mantle at the fence. In any event, my bad; will edit with eyes open in future.

BTW, couldn't help noticing the RC-infused sandbox. Would you by any chance be part of that far-flung contingent of out-of-town Clemente fans? (Mind you, not that I would have ANY first-hand knowledge of such things.) DavidESpeed (talk) 06:18, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

His name is a secondary issue right now, I'm asking about having the article at all or not, so by "correct location" you mean Chih-Wei Hu or something like that ? Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:28, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Yes the article should be located at Chih-Wei Hu. You should have copy/pasted the info there instead of the Hu Chih-wei location.--Yankees10 23:43, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
I'm not persistent about the name but his correct name is Hu Chih-wei, per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese) . in China and Taiwan they wrote the surname first. but once again this is not that important for me, I will revert your edit here, but you can copy/paste it to the name you want. Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:52, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
If that's the case than you should have added the info to the Chih-Wei Hu location, which has existed since May, and then made the move. Not just copy/paste info.--Yankees10 23:57, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
I'm afraid move is not possible without administrator's help, I will make this Chih-Wei Hu and ask for move later. Mohsen1248 (talk) 00:02, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Boston Red Sox MiLB players

Dear Friend: This is a page intended exclusively for players without Major League experience. As a result, the template Infobox baseball biography is just being used temporarily. Obviously, some of these young players will have their own pages in due course. The other thing, as you may notice, this template is used in all individual entries included in the page, and there has never been a problem with this. Finally, as for the inclusion of Minor League teams in the box, there is nothing wrong with that. This is a complementary information on a page intended only for minor leaguers, as I said, and under any circumstances harm the interests of the information. Besides, I added some significant information and references for Javy Guerra. Thanks for your attention, have you a nice weekend. MusiCitizen (talk) 20:42, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

2015 Packers vs 2011 Packers

Which Packers team is better? 2015 Packers (this year) team is better or the 2011 team (who got embarrassed in the playoffs)? Up next we got Denver. Players must be healthy. --74.130.133.1 (talk) 23:55, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

Well it's still pretty early. I doubt this team goes 15-1, especially without Jordy, but they definitely look like the favorites in the NFC so far. Getting Adams back should help. Also would be nice if Lacy got back to 100% health--Yankees10 00:17, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Who do you think our only loss will be to this year? If you can, please reply to my question. --74.130.133.1 (talk) 02:24, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

No idea, but it's incredibly likely that they do lose at least one or two. You can't predict these things. Good teams always lose to teams worse than them every year. We almost saw it this weekend with the Packers almost losing to the Chargers.--Yankees10 02:36, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

I agree. I say the Pack will go 14-2, 15-1, or maybe even 16-0 like the 2007 Patriots. --74.130.133.1 (talk) 20:07, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Gwynn's highlights

I saw that you moved the batting titles in Tony Gwynn's infobox. As far as I tell from Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball/Player style advice, there was never a consensus on a preferred order. Moreover, it seems like Gwynn's batting titles are pretty much synonymous with his career, so an exception to place them first would seem in order, even if there was already a general standard on order. I could see an argument for placing All-Star first, but he would appear more notable for his batting titles than either the Gold Gloves, Silver Sluggers, or Roberto Clemente Award. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on this. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 23:39, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

The way I's tried to order them is by All-Stars first, the Awards by order of notability and then league leading (batting champion, HR leader, etc), with out much fuss from anyone so far. However I see what you are saying here and I think I agree with an exception here. How about listing the Batting championships right after the All-Stars? I think the All-Star's should stay first for consistency with other infoboxes and the fact that it is the most basic and common highlight.--Yankees10 00:01, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
I could live with it. I'll start a discussion at WP:BASEBALL. At the very least, we can see if there is consensus to generally list AS first with any player, or decide to always list it first, no exceptions. Gwynn is as good of a test case as it gets.—Bagumba (talk) 00:08, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
I'd argue that eight batting titles is not much less notable than 15 All-Stars anyway. It's based on opinion on which is more notable. That's why i'd say just leave the AS's first because they are the most common highlight.--Yankees10 00:27, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Respect your opinion. I started Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Baseball#Infobox_highlights_order, and I'm fine with whatever everyone decided. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 00:34, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

2015 Packers

When its November 1st of the Packers Broncos game at 8:30 PM, please add information under the section about the Broncos game once the game is OVER (injuries, score, who lead, etc). I have a question: are you ready to watch the Packers play the Broncos on Sunday because I am? Thank you! --74.130.133.1 (talk) 23:39, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

I don't usually edit those pages. Why can't you add it? And yes I'm looking forward to that game.--Yankees10 23:45, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
That's the only edit I will ever do that day. The only edits is that I will add info and then I'm done using this ip I want it to change. --74.130.133.1 (talk) 00:10, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

I have good news about Randall Cobb [26]. What do you think? --74.130.133.1 (talk) 02:57, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Hello, can you please explain why you made this reversion? Thanks. --Phleg1 (talk) 23:47, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

Packers Broncos

Do you think the Packers will beat Denver? I have us beating Denver 31-21. If you think Packers can beat Broncos what do you think the score would be? --74.130.133.1 (talk) 02:44, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

I think the score will be a little lower, maybe 24-17 or so. Have you ever visited Acme Packing Company.com? It's a great place to to talk about the Packers. I used to comment a lot on that site a while back, but not so much anymore. You should create an account.--Yankees10 03:03, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Oh yeah I seen that. Did you mean create a account there or here? --74.130.133.1 (talk) 20:07, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Both.--Yankees10 20:09, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

What's up with Persondata ?

Hey, Y10. I saw that you were deleting the Persondata templates from NFL player articles without checking to make sure that all of the usable Persondata information was already transferred to the Wikidata profiles for the articles. The current plan is to remove all of the Persondata profile by bot, download the Persondata information to a separate database, and then provide an interface where users may decide what remaining Persondata information should be transferred to Wikidata. By manually deleting the Persondata templates without transferring remaining data points like a player's full name and birth place to Wikidata, you are precluding the opportunity for other users to do so. You can compare the Persondata for the Travis Taylor article (see [28]) with what I manually transferred to the article's Wikidata profile (see [29]). Some folks are finally seeing reason on this, and are working to enable the transfer of as much usable Persondata as possible to Wikidata (see discussion here: [30]). Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 02:12, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

@Dirtlawyer1: Oops. I just assumed it wasn't necessary anymore. I apologize. You know there was even a point there where I said to myself, should I even be doing this? But continued as I saw numerous other users removing them from articles. I should have stopped then and will do so now.--Yankees10 02:23, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
No worries. The whole damn project has been in the dark about what's been transferred, and whether there is anything useful left to be transferred. It seems that reason is finally going to prevail, and an opportunity is going to be provided to transfer selected remaining information from Persondata to Wikidata. There have been some folks who are determined to delete it all immediately, and a handful of us fighting a rearguard action to get as much remaining transferred as possible, particularly including full birth names, maiden names, married names, nicknames, and other name variants, as well as any other basic data like birth places and dates that have not been previously transferred. The biggest problem is the inconsistent quality of the Persondata: in some articles and subject areas, it's very good. In other articles and subject areas, it's nearly blank or complete gibberish. It needs an efficient means of manual review for the 1.2 million articles that have it, and that is apparently going to happen finally. Once the bot request is approved, I'll post notices to all of the sports projects to wait for bot removal -- or until individual editors have manually reviewed and transferred. If you're interested in manual review and transfer, you can get a pretty good idea of how to do it by looking at the Wikidata profile for the Travis Taylor article. Cheers. Hi Yankees10, am updating this page, as am his mother. You can reach me to discuss my edits through multiple social media platforms as I'm easily contactable. Please don't revert my edits while I make an effort to clear up the page. Admittedly I have some work to do regarding the citations etc. But the content is accurate. Thanks in advance. Proposed deletion of Raul Fernandez (baseball)

The article Raul Fernandez (baseball) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non notable minor league baseball player

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Myles Garrett Edit Deletion

Why were the stats for "as of today" that I contributed on the Myles Garrett page deleted? They were accurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mistershoaf (talkcontribs) 16:01, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

We don't add "as of today" stats. Accurate or not. There is no notability of what his stats are this exact date.--Yankees10 17:48, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Best wishes

I don't know how you managed to catch up with me, but bear with my words, I volunteered to help build Wikipedia and make everyone's dreams come to naught. But now that I admit that I'm a complete underdog just using multiple accounts, you can call me just a "private loser". My dreams weren't up to the task, I lost once again. But I am nonetheless impressed on how much hard work you have done with so many sports articles you have created and contributed to on this site. So for my final words before this account is locked, I hope you the best and good luck with everything. Sports4Everything (talk) 02:19, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Pending merge of Infobox NFL coach

Hey, Y10. Looks like the oft-delayed merge of Infobox NFL coach into Infobox NFL player is finally going to happen. DeeJayK has taken the lead in cleaning up the code and eliminating redundant legacy parameters, with help from Primefac and Bagumba. The next step is going to require some manual editing to conform the team tenures and highlights data to the standard formatting used for Infobox NFL player. There are 340 transclusions of the template that will need manual editing, and I am trying to recruit 7 to 10 editors to help with this task, probably starting some time next week. Are you available to help? If we can split this 7 to 10 ways, it should be a very manageable task. Please let me know. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 23:45, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

  • Thank you, sir. You Da Man. Any suggestions for another 2 or 3 recruits? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:28, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
