I wonder[edit]

Do you think we have a sockpuppet here, possibly an undisclosed paid editor? Compare [1] and [2]. I'm seeing a ton of new equestrian articles, probably because of the leadup to the Olympics, but I'm wondering if some are paid puff pieces. I helped draft WP:NEQUESTRIAN, do you think it needs refinement? Montanabw(talk) 04:41, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think there's a possibility they are socks. The articles are about notable horses, but are obviously an issue and need work because the writer(s) seem more concerned with trivia (horses eating pizza crust) than their competitive careers. All the copyrighted pics are also an issue too, if they really do belong to the person they're crediting. The use of person infoboxes for horses and all that is an aggravation too. I'm going to watch them, and we can file an SPI if they get troublesome. They could be paid editors, because the HH Azur article came across as being done by somebody who knew that horse pretty well.
I think there's a little wiggle room needed in the guidelines. If a horse is consistently competing in Grand Prix, it's probably notable. There's also people who compete in the Maclay and the huge hunter shows but not in the Olympic disciplines. Then there are the Bud Dunns and Betty Sains who never ride jumpers, eventers, or dressage, but are notable. I guess, for making new articles, just go off how much published info is out there on a person, and whether they are considered one of the great trainers/breeders/riders in their thing. White Arabian Filly Neigh 20:14, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I added some stuff about national-level championships. I agree, Wolkentanz is my most recent example (German Champion). We always have the basic WP:GNG for all we do, but the "SNGs" help others know what is generally OK. As for the others, I think an admin is on them now and they should clean up their act -- while we clean up their articles... sigh. Montanabw(talk) 22:51, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Palfrey[edit]

Accusing me of not helping in a changeset results in neither changeset message, nor a constructive way dialogue on what exactly the issue is. 217.28.6.255 (talk) 00:01, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please let this go. You are not helping matters at all. Montanabw(talk) 03:23, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

LOL[edit]

Per this, I remember putting that in at the specific demand of someone who insisted that we were being equine-centric 'cause other animals also had saddles... (camels, I guess... ). You gave me a good chuckle! Montanabw(talk) 04:05, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it seemed pretty odd to have "for a horse" on one and not the others! Besides, I seriously doubt that anybody is doing dressage or jumping on camels! 😉🐫 White Arabian Filly Neigh 20:33, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
LOL! Now you understand why I get so burned out and snarky some days! It is impossible to please everyone, so eventually we pretty much need to just do the best we can with what we've got! Montanabw(talk) 22:47, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

COI avoidance[edit]

If you don't mind, WAF - would you revert my last edit at the Saddlebred PBS program, and also delete the other tear sheet. If you believe they should be included, then upload them and if not, then don't. I'd rather avoid potential issues as being the uploader. Atsme📞📧 23:18, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, will do. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:06, 14 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Galen Crew wiki[edit]

Hi Filly,

You wrote on my Talk page welcoming me to Wikipedia. Thanks!

I am writing an article for Galen Crew (currently a draft here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Galen_Crew)

How can this page get published? What needs to happen in order for it to get published? How does that process even work?

Thank you!

Stephenleft (talk) 01:39, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stephenleft, It says on the draft that it's an Articles for Creation submission, so in order to to get it published you'll have to submit it by clicking the blue submit button at the top. Another editor will then review it, and if they think it's good to go, they'll accept it. It will then go live and be an official article. I think it it stands a good chance of being accepted now, but if it doesn't you can work on it some more and try again.White Arabian Filly Neigh 20:11, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article ownership inquiry[edit]

Hello, I decided to come here instead as this is more to you now than other editors. I hope you don't mind me coming here. What I'm concerned about is if the editor begins hurling abuse at me for raising the issue at WP:ANI. Should I give them a warning about ownership on his talk page first, or shall I go straight to the notice board? I'm sorry about all of this, it's just as this is my first time doing this (only been on Wikipedia for six months') and I don't want to seem like a "grass" or user who targets other users. ElectrodeandtheAnode (talk) 22:16, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ElectrodeandtheAnode, I don't mind you coming here. If you've already tried to discuss the edits with them and got nowhere, then probably just take it to ANI. Sometimes disruptive editors will cut it out if that happens, and this is disruptive. If you do file, be sure to include links to the page histories so others can easily see what's been going on. If the editor does get really abusive, they'll probably be dealt with by an admin as that would constitute a personal attack. I really think they might end up topic banned the way they're going--they could still edit other articles, just not those they are trying to control. White Arabian Filly Neigh 20:19, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think, to avoid a grilling from the administrators, it might be worth giving a Level 1 Article Ownership warning first, would that be advisable? Once again, tonight, another section appears to have been rewritten in Too Old for This Shift. I have already asked once on their talk page why they bloated the plot in the article so much when I'd already written one—I got no response. I'm unsure as to why they've rewritten virtually the whole article to be honest. ElectrodeandtheAnode (talk) 20:45, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It might be best to try the warning first, wait a day or so, and if they are editing but make no reply, then go ahead and file at ANI. Normally, though, unless the filing editor is also causing problems, they aren't grilled or yelled at. I've filed a couple of complaints previously. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:04, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll add a warning to their talk page first, and see what they say. I'd like to think I'm not causing problems, as I'm only cleaning-up what they've rewritten (I've just accepted now that most edits made by someone will be redone anyway), but just to be on the safe side I'll issue a Level 1 warning first. Thanks again for your help, I'll keep you updated. ElectrodeandtheAnode (talk) 21:07, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
