Wonderful welcome![edit]

Thank you, White Arabian Filly! Dabbled in Wiki some years ago...contributed a picture of my Paso, and it is still on the Paso page. (grin) Would like to start contributing again. Noticed that Montanabw contributed on the Piaffe page, but wrote a note that the picture and animation are not the best examples, but that she didn't feel qualified to judge. I used to be an upper level rider, and would like to contribute, edit, etc. I will go read the articles you suggested, as it has been some time, and have at it. Love this community!Soltera (talk) 14:05, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Yes, the piaffe pics/animation are not great and if you can find better ones that would be awesome. The trouble with finding illustrations is that they must be free, and most good photographers don't release pictures that way. Which Paso is yours? White Arabian Filly Neigh 19:31, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Guessing this is it: Montanabw edited in it recently according to the history https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Paso_Fino&action=history

New harness racing categories[edit]

I am creating categories to distinguish them from orther forms of horse racing: Which of these do you prefer for each of the various countries. Or do you have a different format idea?

  • Category:American harness racing trainers

OR

  • Category:Canadian harness horse trainers

Thanks. Mateusz K (talk) 15:53, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think harness racing sounds a little better, since that's what the main article is called. I agree with you on categories, if there are multiple articles but no category then one should definitely be there. White Arabian Filly Neigh 19:28, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lol, xD. Just had to give this kitty.

Possible Good Faith Edits but Still need Reverted[edit]

Hello WAF! Hope all is well. Very late last night, an IP user 108.48.127.5 made some edits in Professional Bull Riders and Professional Bull Riders: Heroes and Legends. I looked at their contributions history and it doesn't appear that they are a vandal, just misguided. I think they genuinely believe it's okay to add lots of red links. I don't know who they think are going to create all those articles, though, lol. You have the rollback permission that lets you roll back several edits at once or else I would do that in the topic I have been so active in-the Heroes and Legends one. So if you could do that, that would be great. Thanks! Dawnleelynn (talk) 17:52, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have rollbacked them, but I have to explain the reasoning on the talk page because for some reason rollback won't let you leave an edit summary. I agree on the billions of redlinks; it's OK to add a few, but that was a little much all at once. White Arabian Filly Neigh 23:00, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's a good point. Having a couple is okay, I need to keep that in mind. But making long lists is too much-glad you agreed with me. I'm glad I asked you first though, just in case. I didn't know you couldn't leave comments with the rollback. I hope they see the talk page comment instead. I know I wasn't aware of the user and talk pages until montanabw sent me a welcome which I saw in my inbox. Anyway, thanks again! Merry Christmas. Dawnleelynn (talk) 23:08, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Merry Christmas to you too. I think there is some feature you can enable on rollback in order to explain the revert, but I don't have it. It's supposed to be just for vandalism, but if I do come across a lot of inappropriate edits to the same page I'll rollback and then leave a talk message explaining why. You can undo multiple edits by starting at the top and working down. White Arabian Filly Neigh 23:14, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, start at the top and work down, gotcha, thumbs up! Time for a break now, see you later. :) Dawnleelynn (talk) 23:20, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas[edit]

Thanks for the thoughtfulness and the same to you and your horse! Not looking forward to long, long flight but the end result is always worth it. Have posted a worksheet for Montanabw's suggested WikiProject Harness Horse racing here. Please edit away as I have no idea what I'm doing! Also have posted comments & suggestions regarding the "Infobox racehorse" with the new "Infoboxmodule Standardbred" to here. Mateusz K (talk) 00:20, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you have a good Christmas. I'm not going to have to fly because my family lives close, but some friends from out of state are coming to see me, which should be fun. I'll stop by and take a look at the new project and edit it if need be. I think we may be able to use Wikipedia:WikiProject Equine/Horse breeds as a model for how to set it up I think you've got a good start; it can be moved to be a subpage of the basic Horse racing project at some point. I made a couple edits that hopefully improved it. I saw the edit to the main racehorse Infobox talk page. I especially think we could use the groom parameter. If you leave a parameter out when adding the infobox to the article, it doesn't do anything to mess it up, so jockey and driver could be alternates: use jockey if it's a Thoroughbred, driver if a Standardbred. White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:55, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Leave Thursday for the holiday. I just did some posting that, by accident, led me to some New Zealand & Australian harness racing articles. Contributors have created some very well done articles but changes as well as the new Racehorse infobox are needed to regularize things relative to all HR articles in all countries. (The Auckland Trotting Cup is a race for pacers!) As such, it would be greatly appreciated if and when you can find the time to fix up and finish that WikiProject Harness Horse racing page (change blue box color too?). That would be a very important start as I have a list of things to post so as to get input from project members regarding collaboration with respect to creating standardized formatting, categories and the like. Mateusz K (talk) 03:02, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've alerted the folks at the main racehorse project about the proposed changes, so maybe we can get that done. What color would you want it changed from the blue? Any color can be used as long as it contrasts with the text, so people with color blindness or eye problems can still read it. I have an idea for a possible article that's related to Standardbreds; pacing and trotting races under saddle. In the south, where I live, they traditionally have pacing classes at some Tennessee Walking Horse and Racking Horse shows. I had assumed that the horses in those classes were Walkers or Rackers that just happened to pace, since both of those go back to Standardbreds and the gaited gene is basically the same as the pacing gene (in fact, if you get a Standardbred that racks instead of paces, you can register it as a Racking Horse). Anyway, while researching Horse industry in Tennessee I came across a book that talks about how in 1880s/1890s Tennessee, they raced Standardbreds at the pace or trot under saddle, but it wasn't as popular as harness racing. I don't know what the title of the article would be, but it interested me. White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:54, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seasons Greetings[edit]

Merry Christmas from me! Thanks for your company during 2016. We have seen the percentage of articles on women rise from 15% to 16.77%. 20% is within our grasp and that's an increase of a third over what we first found. Victuallers (talk) 13:55, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
